I need web hosting, and my needs are pretty narrow. I don't need fancy tools or applications, everything I'm doing is pretty much text. I don't need hand-holding or customer service. But what I DO need is to not have to worry that if any of my domains (I've got five or six) go viral, I'll be socked with $$$$ bandwidth overage bills. That happened to me once a long time ago, and I still have trauma scars. I realize that no hosting service can offer, like, infinite bandwidth. At a certain point, service would either cut off or else overage charges will cut in. But are there any web hosting outfits out there known to have particularly generous bandwidth limits, and reasonably priced overage charges beyond those limits?

I'm an old stodgy audiophile finding myself forced to resort to iPod, but I want to make the most of it. First of all, I'm looking for a solution that will allow me to use line-out audio on my ipod (5th generation), and simultaneously charge via AC. Does such a thing exist? Also, what's the standard audiophile solution for on-the-go listening? Headphones into mini-preamp into dock, I'd suppose?

I'm sure somebody else who's travelling over Thanksgiving could also benefit from this knowledge. I brought my cell phone with me on my five-day trip to my parents' place, but of course I forgot the charger. The question I ask is: 'tis nobler to leave the phone on continuously and hope the battery pulls through, or is it a better idea to turn the phone off every night and turn it on only at the point in the day when I plan to use it? Does powering off and on drain more battery power than idling / the cell phone equivalent of "sleep"? FWIW, I have a relatively new Nokia 6682, and the battery is currently showing a full charge but I suspect it's lying, as I think it's been at least 24 hours since I charged it (that said, this battery's done five days unplugged before).

Why do stores often charge .99 cents? A loaf of bread selling for $1.99 as opposed to $2.00, for example. Is there psychological research showing that this makes the price seem cheaper somehow? If so, how significant is the effect?

I made a fairly subtanstial online purchase from a very large, well-known online vendor, with a credit card. Although the goods have long since arrived, my card has not been charged nor had a hold placed against it for any amount. A full billing cycle has passed since the purchase, and I'm wondering if they've just misplaced the bill. Should I contact their billing department, or just hope it never gets charged? And, if it doesn't get charged soon, how long should I wait until I can be reasonably sure it never will?
