I'm an old school IT tech who needs some certs on his resume to get past the HR drones. I'm looking at CompTIA and Microsoft certs as a start. What I need are some good sources for study. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not looking for a boot camp, just some good up to date study guides. Thank you.

My job will pay for IT Certification testing at a Prometric center, and I've been reaping the benefits for years. Being a Mac guy, I've got all the critical Apple certifications. As that's complete, I'm thinking of studying for some Microsoft certs. While I'm not a Windows wizard, I use XP daily and have ample study time. What's a good MS test to start with?

Looking for a web app that will handle user registration, providing users info, providing users tests on that info (that are scored) so that "certification" can be given on the subject. I have the feeling that Moodle can handle (most?) of this. Any Moodle experts, chime in. Other suggestions (besides Moodle, if any) also appreciated. [more inside]

I am trying to break into the Linux Server Administration field so I have been doing quite a bit of studying lately. I figured while I am studying the subject I might as well work towards a related certification. I am leaning towards the Linux Professional Institute Certification. Other certifications I am considering are CompTIA’s Linux+ and Red Hat’s RHCE. So which Linux certification is the best? I would say Red Hat is the most reputable of these three but I am concerned that their certification might be too Red-Hat-centric, and I don't want to be locked into one distro. Which one is the easiest/cheapest to obtain? Which is the mostly highly regarded in the industry? Are there others that I missed?

Translating technical certifications (Network+ and A+) in to an MCP. Is this possible? I've scoured forums and newsgroups related
to technical certification, and found items that alluded to this possibility, but with no specifics as to the process. Where could I research this more? Has anyone experienced this process? How would one go about doing this?

I'm currently working towards my MCSE and am looking for some good (hopefully free) resources as far as Skills Assesment or trainers are concerned- Googling for it only turns up pages and pages of ads. If you've gotten your MSCSE or any of the MS Certification tests what resources did you find most helpful?
