When people call my cell phone and don't leave a voicemail, I tend not to call them back. Should I? Is there a pervasive cultural expectation of which I am unaware that one is obligated to return missed calls? [more inside]

I have a new smart phone on Virgin Mobile. I could have ported to Google Voice initially, using a number on GV I already had, but chose not to. I'm now getting calls from the cell's # and my GV #. Should I port over to GV completely and have just one number? [more inside]

I'm an ATT Wireless customer and I just upgraded my phone (to Samsung Eternity). Everything works fine, except that people can't leave me voicemails. [more inside]

I am a verizon cell phone customer and just got rid of our landline. We are a family of 5. Three teens.
I hate getting voicemail. Should I cancel this feature on my cellphone? Do any of you run your life just fine without voicemail?
My kids all text me.
For example, a friend just called me and left a message to call her back. I do not want to call her back! If I did not have voicemail I would not be obliged to call her.
I know it sounds like I am mean but I just hate the phone.

I live in a semi-rural area and am incredibly frustrated with my area's landline phone provider. The provider has a monopoly in the area and delays fixing constant faults for many weeks. I want to go completely Skype, wireless and mobile. What are my options? [more inside]

how can i save voicemails from my cellphone to a more permanent place? for stupid, sentimental reasons, i'd like to transfer voicemails from my cellphone to a tape or a cd or just something i can keep. i have verizon wireless, and an LG4500 phone, no bells, no whistles, no peripherals beyond the charger. i'm *this* close to holding the phone up to the mic on my old boombox, but if there's a better solution, i'm all for it.
