Currently, I have a Virgin Mobile PAYG smartphone. I'd like to get a phone on my family's Sprint plan instead (for the same monthly price as Virgin, I can get unlimited whatever). However, Sprint says they can't port my phone number because Virgin is a reseller of theirs. I've heard that you can port your number to Google Voice for a small fee, and then have Sprint port the number to a Sprint phone, but this advice was found on a forum somewhere and no one backed up the claim that it actually worked. Would it work? Have you done this? I'd really like to keep my phone number, and before I risk losing it, I'd like to know. Thanks.

I want to buy a new "smart phone". (Hopefully smarter than its soon to be owner.) I want to try (or test drive) them out first. Is there a way to try various phones for a few days before actually purchasing one?

What kind of phone should we get our son for his 17th birthday? We'd like to get him something reasonably cool, while keeping it reasonably cheap.

Can you please explain cell phone unlocking as it pertains to CDMA networks in the US? Or, more specifically, I have a Palm Centro for Sprint that I would like to use on Verizon, and I would like some advice on if this is possible and if so what do I do?

It's come the time to buy a new cellphone. I have a RAZR V2 and it's falling apart. My Verizon contract is up in November. Should I re-up with Verizon and stay on my family plan or should I break off and/or go to another carrier? And what phone should I look into? All I know is that I do not want a huge fold out QWERTY keyboard like a 16-year-old girl with a Sidekick and probably do not want a Motorola.

My LG PM-225 phone now loops the Sprint logo (the one you usually see when turning the phone on) after a Bitpim sync apparently went wrong. Is there anyway to reset the phone / reinstall the software (is that what went wrong?) without informing Sprint or buying a new phone? Thanks much.

My cell phone broke the other day, and I've been looking at getting a new one off Ebay, since it seems like you can get really cheap phones compared to buying them from Sprint directly. Is there anything I should know, or any potential hurdles that'd I have to jump over if I did this? Has anyone bought a phone off ebay and transferred it on to their preexisting business account?

Cellphones Ergonomics: I used to have Sprint. Part of the reason I dropped coverage was because I didn't like my phone, a Sanyo 4900. It had great battery life, good technical features, and terrible ergonomics: it never felt right against my ear/head, and it tended to heat up after a few minutes use, making it an uncomfortable and sweaty poor fit to my ear/head (as well as conjuring visions of RF zapped brains, no matter how my rational side told me it wasn't happening). Anyway, I'm considering going back to Sprint, and am looking for recommendations about phones that feel good.
