I'm looking for a free service (in the USA) that will forward text messages or SMS to my email account. (What can I say... I'm home working on my computer far, far more often than I am out and about with my cell, and my cell gets horrible reception here at home!) Thanks for any and all help!!
Trying not to be neurotic...I think my guy hung up on me, but maybe it was just a dropped call? Google won't help me distinguish between the two, although it seems obvious to me. The obvious being that he hung up on me. [more inside]

I have had an LG cu320 phone for about 1.5 years, so it's out of warranty and I stupidly (or arrogantly) did not get insurance for the phone. Now an internal part is broken which has rendered the screen completely white and LG won't send me (the customer) the part and can only suggest I send it to them to repair, which would cost a *minimum* of $35. I have an old cell phone...a Samsung SCH-T300 to be exact...but it has one feature that I haven't seen on any other new phone...or maybe I just haven't been looking hard enough. It has a sort of built-in answering machine. That is, instead of going to voicemail (which is on Verizon's server), it goes to an "answering machine" that's *on* the phone itself. This lets me do two things: I can actually listen to people's messages *as* they leave them and answer the phone if I choose, and I can listen to voicemail even when I have no signal (since it's stored on the phone). Help me mefi! Are there any current phones that have this feature?

My cell phone is on the fritz (it spontaneously powers off half the time and only powers on with considerable effort--it's three years old) and I'm going traveling in a week and a half. I need a phone. Like now. Do I go ahead and pick up the Sony W810i today, or wait for an announcement from apple. There are a few Sony's available in my area today, though they tend to go quick.

My (non-existent) ideal device is a Treo -- with wifi, GSM/GPRS, and either EDGE or HSDPA -- on a service plan that includes flat-rate unlimited data, flat-rate international data roaming, and a small amount of voice usage inside the U.S. (say 100 mins/month). So, in the real world, is a Blackberry 8800 on T-Mobile my best choice for a plan starting in spring 2007? [more inside]
