Thanks to NPR, I understand that securitized mortgages are bundled together and divided into traunches, and that this is bundling and dividing process is what makes these securities so difficult to deal with.
Is there no way to "reassemble" the traunches and de-securitize the mortgages? It seems like that would make valuation easier to determine, and help with isolating bad mortgages/ investments.

I've been looking for an old CD my parents used to play when I was little, caled "here come the hits", but it doesn't seem to be anywhere visible. In fact, it seems to have dropped out of existence entirely; I can't even find a tracklisting on the internet so I can gather the songs from other sources.
I know "shout" by tears for fears was one of the songs, and "black cars look better in the shade" and "one night in bangkok" are likely contenders. Can somebody help me find an official tracklist for this album of 80's one-hit-wonders so I can get some closure?

I want to store a few dozen CDs with their liner notes and inserts (we're talking the regular American style thick CD jewel cases). Most of the CD binders seem only able to store the booklet, not the tray inserts. I'd like one that can store everything except the plastic. I want to be able to stick them back into jewel cases if I ever decide to get rid of them. [more inside]

Our dog was recently diagnosed with a mild form of canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (CDS). The vet prescribed 5mg Anipryl, which costs $100/month. I could get generic Selegiline from petmeds.com for $12/month. So I was wondering if anyone has had any experience of CDS in dogs, and using either med. Thanks! [more inside]

I'm currently listening to track 09. It's good. how do I find out name of the artist? I'm asking a general question here, I have a dozen track 09s. When I pop a CD into iTunes it gets it's info for me online. Is there any way to do that for individual tracks? Since it's digital isn't there a way to do a look up?

I'm looking for a specific online store/aggregator (if that's the proper term) through which you can order CDs/records/etc. via many, many vendors. I used this site a lot 5 years ago. They had masses of out-of-print and tiny label stuff. Almost anything you could think of, they had it. The site sported a very old-school ugly-but-charming layout. Loved them. But I've lost my link...please help me find it!

My former DJ friend had so many CDs lying around that at one point he actually started taping them into stacks as a control mechanism - it just made them easier to deal with. We're talking the actual CDs here, not the cases. A lot of them have little sticky patches on the edges of the disc, from where the tape gunk stuck to the disc. Any chance tape gunk will gunk up my cd drives if I play these? [more inside]

My car CD player is driving me out of my mind! It skips like mad, but only when it is very very cold out. Today it is six degrees out and I couldn't get a single track to play straight through. It doesn't matter what the CD is, it doesn't seem to matter if the car is cold or warmed up, and the road condition doesn't seem to have an impact, as it does it while I'm at red lights, too. Is there a logical reason why this happens when it is at least ten degrees below freezing? More important, is there anything I can do about it? [more inside]

[UK Music Insurance] I always felt that my record collection was too personal/horrible/crap for anyone to bother stealing it, but a friend of mine who lives just round the corner has had most of his collection pilfered so now I'm not so sure. While my collection doesn't include many items that are in themselves valuable, just the number of CD's and records would make them very expensive to replace. Any ideas on what insurance options are available? [more inside]
