How to fix an mp3 file that doesn't burn to CD in its entirety?

One of my mp3 files does not get burned to CD in its entirety (using Windows Media Player). The actual duration is roughly 53 minutes, and the mp3 plays flawlessly all the way through in WMP, but only around 48 minutes gets burned to the CD. I don't get any errors from WMP when it's burning, but when I play the track on the CD it stops after about 48 minutes and goes on to the next track. I have tried the CD burning three times, so it's unlikely to be a problem with the CDs I used.

Any ideas what could be wrong or how I might go about figuring it out or correcting it? Here's a link to the file. Thanks!

No Gap CD Burning

Can you recommend a program that will burn audio CDs with absolutely no gaps between tracks for mixes? Both iTunes and Nero have an option to remove gaps, but there is still an audible gap.

How do I make nice-looking tray cards and CD inserts, without effort?

Easy/free way to print tracklisting/tray liner cards/inserts after burning a CD? I've downloaded a ton of those free label samplers from Amazon, and want to burn them. I use Windows Media Player, which does a fine job of burning - but to make a tray card/track listing, I have to do a screen capture, crop in photoshop, etc., and even then it's missing key things like the track number.

Is there a freeware burning program, WMP plugin, or something that does a great job of effortlessly making nice-looking disc inserts and/or tray liners? iTunes is not an option.

Help converting MPEG image

Making scrapbook of grandson. Need help getting the initial "frame" of an MPEG file converted into a JPEG or TIF "still shot." Also need help making a CD dub of his favorite tunes for him. Looked at previous posts. Too advanced for me. My tech skills are focused on just things that I need for work. Otherwise, I am a bit dyslexic and get stuck generally with tech instrux, esp. as products and formats change so swiftly these last 12 years or so. I was taking pix of grandson with my daughter's camera but inadvertently had it on "movie". So I ended up with several very short MPEGs. I would appreciate learning the following:
1. get the initial frame, what I see when I open the MPEG in "Go Live," converted into a TIF or JPEG.
2. save the whole MPEG "movie" on a CD (what? ... just put the MPEG file into the burn "project"? Will the users of the CD just dbl click it to see the little movie? CAN YOU PUT BOTH movies and music dubs on same CD??? or does Bill Gates need to have it be one or the other?)
3. general help dubbing a CD with grandson's favorite songs... all from different sources. Some are MP3s, but some are different formats, downloaded from web; some from commercial CD's. I tried following Roxio instrux, but got confused.

If a responder would like to be REALLY KIND to me, and could give help by a 15-min. phone chat, that would be super. Email to set up a date. My email's in my Profile.

Alternatives for Nero Burning ROM?

More burning, less fiddling: alternatives for Nero Burning ROM? Holy cow this app has become nothing but bloatware. Upon starting the install for Nero8 the installer has the audacity to ask if I want to install the Ask Jeeves toolbar? WTF NERO? The custom install has me check-marking a dozen or more optional apps and features? Give me a break.

All I want to do is burn cds and dvds!

So, my question is: what are the good, honest, slim products out there which allow you to burn CDs and DVDs with no fuss and don't require hundreds of megabytes of storage to do it. I prefer GNU products, but have no problems about quality, no-nonsense commercial products either. What are the cool kids using*?

My environment is Windows XP and Server 2003. My burners are dual layer DVD-+RW*!@#@#litebrite-waka-waka models from Lite-On. Completely generic, middle of the road, fine working drives.

*Please don't tell me just to mount my images, I already do that for most things, but I live and work in an environment where I occasionally need to burn CD and DVD images.

Getting Video from Hard Drive to CD

I have a hard drive full of video and no DVD burner. How do I put the video onto CD? These are in bin/cue and avi format and hover around the magic 700MB mark (some a little higher some a little lower). I know this is just the sort of thing one should be able to google for, but all I can find are "forum" type postings from people with relatively specific questions and answers directed at people are already geeks at this sort of stuff. I'm a geek with other sorts of stuff, not this.

So I have some television shows that I would like to save. I do not have the room to keep them stored on my HD, and it's my understanding that I can't view them until they're on CD anyway. I also have a movie or two. The computer is a laptop with a 40G HD and WindowsXP. I have a CD burner, but no DVD burner. I don't have much money to blow right now and I don't see this being a long-term need, so even though I know they're getting cheap, I do not want to buy a DVD burner.

My attempts at googling this have revealed that I can download programs that will take movies bin/cue files and put them on a CD. Nothing I've seen implies that there's any problem at all fitting a movie on a CD.

Before I run off and try to do this, it seems to me that this is impossible..There really aren't movies below say 600MB and anything that approaches 700 shouldn't fit on a CD, right? Is there something that this software will do that will make the files smaller? Am I missing something?

Assuming I can put them onto CD, how exactly do I do this for the bin/cue files? Will they still be bin/cue files on the CD or are they going to turn into something else? Will I need special software to view them? I assume for the avi files I can just stick them onto the CD the same way I would transfer any other file to a CD. Is there something I can do to slightly shrink those that are over 700MB?

Also, will these CDs play on most DVD players (doesn't matter really, but I'm curious). Also, will the video quality suck on a normal-sized TV usually?

How do I do this? What software do you reccomend? How hard will this be for a non-computer/video geek?

If this question seems very confused, it's because I'm very confused.

Burning 100 CDs

What's the best way to burn roughly 100 CDs? Banjo and I are going to be giving mix CDs as wedding favors and would like to know the best method of going about this. Burn at home, or get someone else to do it? How much would that cost? We have at least one computer with a theoretically functional CD burner on hand. The mix CD itself will be 12-14 songs in length of material taken from our collections and iTunes. Thanks!

Burning and Ripping

I need some kind of remedial primer for transfering music off my cds and onto my computer, then off my computer and onto cds. Every music cd I burn is full of pops and weird scratch artifacts. I'm realizing that I don't really know much about audio formats and that I'm probably doing something wrong. Can MeFi help? FYI, I currently use Windows Media Player to play cds on my PC and to copy music off cd and onto my pc (they save as .wma files). I use Nero to copy music off my pc and onto cd, but Nero has a lot of features I don't understand and can't really figure out how to use.

I've always presumed that I can't use .mp3s without getting a special Mp3 player for both my pc and my car cd player - is this true? I do know that sometimes people give me cds that I can't play on any cd player I own.... is this because they're in mp3 format?

Yes, I know these are all questions I should know the answers to. Please don't make me feel stupid for asking -- I already feel inept enough. I'm sorry, technical things have never been my forte...

Windows XP CDs

Dumb Windows XP question time. I burned some files to a CD-ROM using Nero. Then I burned some more files to the same CD-ROM, creating a multisession CD. Afterward, when I insert the CD into the drive, I see only the second batch of files on the disc. On the Mac I'd expect to see a separate volume icon for each session; how do I access the various sessions under Windows?
