Should I force my cats to switch to the healthier food or let them continue eating the not-so-great stuff they seem to prefer?

Overnight is one thing, but how can I make sure my four feline snowflakes get proper nutrition while their humans are off on a three-day cross-country jaunt? Given we've got one cat with food intolerances, one super-picky princess, one food-snatcher, and one with what the vet has described as a "highly efficient colon" (meaning she needs wet food every day), things are going to need a bit more consideration and prep-work than just leaving a big bowl of crunchies out. Please, kittyfolks, share your wisdoms!

Has a domestic cat ever actually killed a human being? I can't find any evidence of this, and yet, I keep running into people who seem weirdly fearful of cats (and no, I am not talking about allergic folks). What is going on?

We need a new litter brand! We have 3 cats and a relatively small space in which they live. The recent heat wave has not helped matters. Ideally the new litter will not stink up the house with odor-covering chemicals. Help?

Where are some awesome jazz bars in London? I am looking for somewhere that has a resident live band... the kind of thing you'd imagine Brad Pitt and George Clooney planning a casino heist in with both of them wearing suit and shirt with no tie. Whilst drinking Scotch. Bonus points if it's a place that has an entrance fee to discourage the riff-raff.

My 2 cats (who up to this point have been nothing but adorable love monkeys wrapped in fur) viciously attacked me last night. I have never seen anything like it and it's making me wonder whether I can continue to keep them. But I love them! (Or at least I have for the past 6 years...) What do I do?

When we change the duvet cover on our bed, Pusslikeso immediately dives under the covers and basically becomes comatose. She can't wait, she runs into the bedroom as soon as we start and jumps up while we're changing the bottom sheet (so she often almost gets herself made
into the bed). What chemical could she possibly be reacting to?

My cat is sneezing in relatively violent, rapid-fire outbursts of 5 - 10 seconds. The nose and eyes are not discharging anything. She'll just sit up from where she's taking a nap, sneeze a whole bunch of times in a row really fast, then lay down again. This cat has an auto-immune disorder and has taken prednisone for the last year or so. I took her to the vet a week ago for a checkup and I told the vet about the sneezing, which at the time wasn't that bad. The vet said if it got worse, I should bring my cat back in and she'd give her a round of antibiotics to see if that knocked it out, though there was nothing to indicate it was a virus. I wasn't impressed with that answer. In the last couple of days, the sneezing has become slightly more frequent. Any idea what I should do or what this might be? If the advice is go to the vet, would you recommend another vet?

My two kittens have ear mites, for which they were treated today at the vet, by the vet, with Revolution. They also received their first vaccines today. This evening, one of them coughed up a two inch thin, worm-like thing which scared the crap out of me as it coiled up around itself. Is the worm perhaps die-off from the Revolution?

For a Friend: I just moved into a high-rise building with cats. Is there anything I can put up in between my screen door and the balcony to prevent the cats from falling off the balcony if the screen door is open? I've thought about a baby gate but I'm worried about them jumping.

My cat
Trilby has nearly destroyed the cat scratcher I bought for him when I adopted him a year and a half ago, and it’s time for a new scratching post. Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced, durable, modest-sized cat scratcher? Those “emery board” scratchers sound great in theory because I wouldn’t have to cut Trilby’s claws anymore. But they’ve gotten so many negative reviews online and most of the positive reviews smell like spam. Do any of you use them, or failing that, does your cat?
