What do I do about the cat poop in my raised beds if I don't want to get rid of the cats? I have a little feral/community cat colony in my (urban) backyard. They have chosen two of my raised beds as their toilet. Now that the snow has melted the smell is kicking in. I don't want to drive the cats away, but I would like my backyard to not smell of sewage and maybe even use those beds for non-edibles. Anyone have ideas? [more inside]
I got my cats this bed and this bed recently. I would like to find a combination of the two for the Ultimate Cat Bed--something with the small opening of the first combined with the wide opening of the second. Any recommendations? [more inside]
Cats suffering from blood in poop, diarrhea, vomiting for the past month. Vets keep telling me there's nothing wrong, all of their treatment suggestions haven't worked. Can't keep spending money on vets, please advise. Cat poop discussion inside! [more inside]
What do I do about this stray cat family with kittens? I would be OK doing TNR, but I don't want to return them to my backyard because my neighbors catch strays and kittens and kill them. I've reached out to local groups for help but they have no room and won't lend me traps because I don't want to return the cats to the same location. [more inside]
Cat trees: I've never owned one but have been offered one as a present for my pretties. What should I keep in mind? Do you have any recommendations? I'm thinking about this one. I would attach "cat stairs" to the walls but I'm not allowed, so a cat tree it is. I don't want to end up buying a big tree that they're able to knock over in five minutes or is covered with nonsense they'll never touch. My cats are big climbers, they like cozy sleeping spots but height is a priority for the cat tree. Maybe I'm overthinking this? [more inside]
How do I cat-proof a bookshelf and desk? My cats like to climb on my bookshelf and desk and knock things off of them, sometimes for fun and sometimes to get my attention. I would like them to stop doing this. [more inside]
Yesterday or the day before I noticed one of my cats was squinting a little in one eye. Then she started producing thick yellow goop. This morning there was a lot more thick yellow goop. This evening I noticed the nictating membrane of that eye is a little pinker and more swollen than the other one. She is having no trouble breathing and her appetite, thirst, and energy are normal. I don't have a lot of money. How urgent is this situation? [more inside]
You have a friend with two well-behaved adult cats. He does not want the two cats any more. You want to give them to the Best Home Humanly Possible (not a rescue organization, ideally) and so far can't find any friends or family who can take them in. You posted your Craigslist ad with the adorable picture of them grooming each other, and now what? [more inside]
Does my cat have a chronic respiratory infection, or is it possible she just naturally has poor breathing passages? Ever since my partner and I adopted her and her sister in August she has had periodic coughing and hacking fits that have been relatively unaffected by three separate rounds of antibiotics. Now I wonder if maybe she just has the equivalent of a deviated septum, or whether it's time for hospitalization. [more inside]
My adopted cat is freaked out about her new home, and getting more freaked out with each passing day. Now I'm afraid she's so freaked out she's not even emerging to eat or drink. What do I do? [more inside]
