Sister cats, adopted from the shelter very young (~couple months)...are now around 3 years and thriving. Problem is they will randomly get very...agitated? Upset? Freaked out may be the best way to describe this. Not sure what to do or how to go about explaining it to vet without having to force pills down their little throats (this causes more trauma and anxiety!) Tedious details inside. [more inside]

What toys would you suggest for a cat that needs exercise but isn't motivated by treats? She does like scratching posts/beds and chin scritches, but I don't know how to work those into an active toy.

Please help me win my FaceBook debate (or, at least, learn something new): MUST dogs be walked? Is it truly better for cats to be only indoors? Are cats less domesticated than dogs? I'd like fact-based support, not ASPCA party line. Gimme Science! [more inside]

Can I mix interferon with food to dose my cat? She's been diagnosed with stomatitis, a viral mouth infection, so she'll be taking interferon for at least a few months. I'm getting conflicting information from the two vets who have seen her about how to administer it. [more inside]

I'm bringing my eleven-year old cat to the vet tonight for his first teeth cleaning. I know he has to have blood tests first, and that anasthesia will be involved. The vet said there might be some extractions depending on the condition of his teeth. Can anyone give me a ballpark on what this is going to cost? I need to figure out how to juggle my finances to pay for it.
