I impulsively adopted a Maine Coon mix over the weekend. Now I'm realizing this may have been a stupid thing to do given I have a Persian and am already drowning in cat fur. Should I return him before I get too attached?

A sweet mama cat and her kitten were abandoned at a friend's house outside of Austin. I agreed to foster them for a bit, but we're going on week three, and tensions are building between the fosters and my two regular kitties. Bonus complication: Mama cat has now gone into heat (I think). Yikes.

Cat adoption filter: should we take in a young feral who seems to have adopted us, or should we find a different kitten to bring into our home? Complicating details inside. Bit of a novella, apologies in advance for the length.

Is it better when adopting a new cat to get one from an animal shelter or from a local rescue group?

You have a friend with two well-behaved adult cats. He does not want the two cats any more. You want to give them to the Best Home Humanly Possible (not a rescue organization, ideally) and so far can't find any friends or family who can take them in. You posted your Craigslist ad with the adorable picture of them grooming each other, and now what?

My adopted cat is freaked out about her new home, and getting more freaked out with each passing day. Now I'm afraid she's so freaked out she's not even emerging to eat or drink. What do I do?

We are adopting two cats, but can't decide whether to adopt a pair of kittens or a pair of adult littermates. Could you help us weigh which pair will be helped more if we adopt them?
