The miracle of life...and cat pee.

I'm totes pregnant! With twins! Yay! Apparently, one of my cats is not as excited about this development as his human counterparts are. While snuggling with me this morning, he turned around, faced his pee parts towards me, and sprayed. It was not awesome. How do I discourage this (hellish, foul) behavior? [more inside]

Cat Pee in Dryer

Cat peeing in house for first time. Help?

Hello Mefites, You may recall that we welcomed Pumpkin to our family in early October. She has been a model cat in every way up until mid-morning today when she peed on a dining room chair pad. My gut feeling is that this is related to boredom. Please help me remedy this. [more inside]

You're cute, but my door doesn't think so!

We are having an issue with neighborhood cats peeing on our iron mesh door that's in front of a wooden door. One of our neighbors says he caught them all and spayed/neutered them a long time ago (which we have no reason to disbelieve) and now regularly feeds them. However... [more inside]

Who can I pay to make my couch stop smelling like cat pee? (in NYC)

My beautiful, beloved cat peed on the couch. Anti-Icky-Poo is failing me, and frankly I'm fed up and just want to pay someone else to make the cat urine smell go away. I'm in NYC. Any recommendations on who I can call to deodorize the couch? [more inside]

Expectant mefite ISO cat-pee proof chair for baby noms and writing work

For the past year or so, this has been my writing/computing set-up. The chair (a used Shermag glider) was super comfortable, but also super ugly. But my cat keeps peeing on it, and crazynesting has me wanting a better-looking (and smelling) cat-pee proof replacement. Challenge: under $200. [more inside]

At least the box was empty at the time

I have a nice wooden jewelry box. Everyone loves it. In particular, my cat loved it, and marked it as his own. How do I clean the pee out, or is it doomed? I've tried wood cleaners, but honestly I am not terribly good at this, and it's been longer than it should have been.

when to euthanize a cat?

i have a fantastically old cat (18) who unfortunately isn't so fantastic anymore. he has pretty bad cataracts and diabetes. he regularly attacks and mewls at the other pets (one cat, one dog), charges and mewls at any visitor who is not me, and spends his day either under the bed or in the closet. oh, and he pees everywhere. literally, everywhere. my bed. the floor. the table. the carpet. the closet. the couch. i regularly discover new pee spots. he has his own litter box, it is cleaned regularly. it doesn't matter. he's confused, he drinks an insane amount of water thanks to the diabetes, he can't see too well and he pees. Deodorizing a house

De-stinkifying a house of cat smell--while the cats (and their not-so-hygenic owners) still live there. I found a place I want to live (cheap!), but all of the common areas smell very strongly of cat and litterbox. If I move in, are there any affordable measures I can take to return the place to tolerable freshness? Or should I find somewhere else to live? [more inside]

Hey Molly - piss in your hole not on my carpet. Kthx.

One of our cats started peeing in the tub. We got pissed and filled the tub up with water, thus stopping her from peeing in the tub. Now she pees on the bath rug right outside of the tub instead (literally a foot from her litter box). Please help brainstorm some "get the hell back in your litter box" ideas. [more inside]

Cat pee boots, yuck

The cat peed in my daughter's Doc Martins. I'm pretty sure I know why (she had visited another home with cats, one may have been in heat), but how can i get the smell out? I've tried baking soda and febreeze. Oh, the cat is a spayed female and it was not a full on pee, more of a marking squirt. Smells terrible though.

Any experience removing cat urine odor from a mattress?

My cat peed on my mattress about 24 hours ago. I removed all the bedding for laundering. Google's results are either ambiguous (both 'vinegar works' and 'stay away from vinegar' advice) or commercial sites. Any success using homemade remedies such as baking soda?
