My car stinks and I can't blame it on other cars forever.

Should I bother fixing my catalytic converter? Worth it to fix my catalytic converter? It periodically smells like rotten eggs and the mpg is down from 16 to 13 or 14 on the highway. '97 Mountaineer, but I don't use it to commute so it accrues 2500 mi/yr, tops. The car's only about 100K miles old.

Don't know how much this costs to fix. Would it just be cheaper to leave it alone? The car passed the Seattle emissions test by default a month ago, since it's too old to plug into the computer. But am I going to be sorry if I don't fix it when the car ... explodes or something?

How much to replace my car's meow?

How much should it cost to replace the catalytic converter in my 94 Toyota 4Runner? Hello..so my cat was swiped in Brooklyn; I had my car towed to my mechanic in NJ and he is quoting 1125. This seems ridiculous. Does anyone have a recommendation for a mechanic in NY or NJ that will replace it for a more reasonable rate? The piece itself is only going for around a hundred bucks!

Thanks much, hive mind.

How much does a catalytic converter cost?

The catalytic converter on my 97 Ford Escort blew out today, and I suspect it ruptured part of the exhaust works in front of the muffler. I can find out how much parts cost on my own, but I'm not going to be doing the service myself, so could someone knowledgeable in the realm of automotive repair hazard a ballpark guesstimate as to how much this might cost me to fix? I just need a general idea so I can figure out how much blood to sell to pay for the repairs.
