I moved out of a shared house into an apartment, everything is great except for my cat. He was an indoor/outdoor cat (we had a doggie door), but now I live in the city, and he can't run free. I'm looking for some way to keep him in close proximity of my apartment should he jump down from the balcony like he did today.

Just moved to Seattle -- any recommendations for a good veterinarian or vet hospital? My cat will probably need some diagnostic work, so I'd prefer a facility that has specialists. I am hoping to find a place in North Seattle (Maple Leaf/Northgate area) but can drive anywhere.

One or more times weekly, my cat Cooper is afflicted with a very strange problem. The skin on his lower back - near his tail - starts twitching. Like, a lot. He'll stop; turn his head with a sort-of pissed off look and STARE at the spot on his back while it continues to twitch. Eventually he starts licking the spot furiously. After a few seconds of licking, he'll explode from his position and go galloping across the room or - many times - the entire house. It can go on for as many as 10 minutes at times; this series of behaviors. It seems like he’s trying to run away from this invisible force – this “butt ghost” as I’ve come to call it. Can anyone explain this?

I use Fresh Step Premium Cat Litter and a Littermaid litter box for my two cats. Recently, when emptying the vacuum cleaner and cleaning the AC filters, I have realized just how much litter dust there is in the air. I really like the scoopability of the brand I'm using, but I'd like to find another type of cat litter that works well with the Littermaid, yet doesn't stir up so much dust all the time. Got any recommendations?

So I recently found an orphan kitten in the backyard that is about 5 weeks old and i just saw the mother looking for her kitten a little while ago. i'm not sure if she is feral or just a neighborhood cat, and i feel terrible about keeping the kitten from her. but at the same time. if she is feral, i'd feel bad about contributing another feral cat to the community, or worse the kitten wouldn't survive. any advice is more then welcome!

I am moving from the West Coast to the East Coast and I'm wondering what the best way to move my beloved cat. I was originally going to bring her on my flight as a carry-on, but I'm thinking that the plane ride may be too long in a small pet carrier. There is also the option of checking her in as luggage, but most airlines don't allow this in the summer months (i.e. the time I'm moving). Any suggestions? Shipping is also an option; any suggestions on airline-friendly kennels that can attach water and food? Also, to sedate or not to sedate?

Anyone know where to get basic plans to build a pet door? Specifically, I'd like plans for a door to be used in a sash window. I'm sure I can make one for less than

My girlfriend's cat was recently diagnosed with asthma. The vet suggested two courses of action. One involved a mask and inhalers (replaced monthly.) The other method was intermittent cortisone shots. The vet mentioned that a risk of the cortisone treatment was the possibility of the cat developing diabetes, but the inhaler route is cost prohibitive (around $100/month.) What did you do when your cat was diagnosed with asthma?
