Gee Your Cat Smells Terrific

Most scoopable cat litter has a fragrance added. Normally we hunt for unscented litter, since the scents linger on my cat and he smells like air freshener. We accidentally bought a 40 pound tub of super scented litter. Is there any way to make it less aromatic or remove the smell from the cat?

Is my cat just being a jerk or is he trying to tell me something?

Cat Scratch Filter

My wife and I have built a cat condo, and we'd like to wrap part of it in sisal rope to serve as a scratching post. All sisal rope found in stores (near as I can tell) has been treated with something that gives it a reek similar to vaseline, probably to keep it supple. We have found a couple of online sources of untreated sisal, but they are A) about 10x the price, and B) out of sisal right now anyhow. We are wondering if the regular stinky store-bought stuff would pose a health hazard to our cats. The cat condo stays on our screened-in porch, so the odor isn't a great concern. I haven't found any MSDSs for sisal rope so far.

Burly Guy Baby-Talking His Cat

I'm looking for a video of a commercial I saw a few years ago. I can't even remember what product it was pushing. But it features a big burly guy, laying on the floor on his back, baby talking to his kitty. Saying something like,"WHO's got the pretty little mustache? Who's the mustache man?... Is it YOU?! Is it YOU!?!" He's discovered in this compromising pose by his macho buddies. Any ideas??

How to help a cranky cat get used to the dog?

(Pet harmony filter) A little over 3 months ago, we adopted Phoebe, an 18-month old poodle/bichon cross. She's a fantastic dog, very well behaved, perfectly lovable and playful and awesome in every way, and we adore her. We also have 4 cats, 3 of which have settled down and seem to have gotten used her. Getting a kitten for a gift - what else do I need?

I've decided to adopt a kitten for my fiance as a Christmas gift this year. She's an absolute animal lover, and she has been wanting to get a kitten for a while now (her cat of 15 years died this summer). I'm going to arrange the adoption and then have her pick the kitten out the day after the holiday. However, I'm going to arrange an assortment of kitten necessities for her to open on Christmas morning. Never having had a kitten, what do I need?

Do I need to use two tubes of antibiotic eye ointment?

The pediatrician says my two-week-old baby has a potential eye infection-- her left eye isn't draining properly yet. The pediatrician prescribed erythromycin ointment. Coincidentally, about three weeks ago, our cat was prescribed erythromycin for her eye infection, which is now long cleared. I still have about four-fifths of a tube. Is there any reason that I shouldn't use the cat's ointment on the baby? It seems like a waste to open another tube of the stuff.
