Supporting a friend putting his cat down.

I've been supporting a friend with major mental health issues through finding out his cat was sick. It's been a rough ride for both of us and now he's finally decided that it's time to put her down later today. He's asked me to help him so I thought it would be a good idea of I knew what's going to happen and what kind of things people found helpful to them at this sad time. [more inside]

how do i transport my cat from nyc to montreal?

So, my cat is too big to fit in the small pet carrier that's allowed for Delta flights between nyc and montreal, so I can't take my cat as a carry-on. It doesn't look like I can take my cat with me via greyhound or amtrak, so, what are my alternatives?

Vet time?

My cat seems to have a cold -it seems like she has really bad nasal congestion and eye discharge. Should I take her to the vet? On the one hand I think no, because last time she had these symptoms (July) the vet said there was nothing she could do, and I don't want to stress her out for nothing when she's already uncomfortable and possibly prolong this. On the other hand "Making bad noises when breathing= doctor" seems like a pretty good guideline to follow in general. [more inside]

What's a cute phrase to indicate on my cat's tag that he is indoor-only?

My neighborhood has a lot of outdoor cats, so I would like to add something to my indoor cat's tag to indicate that if someone encounters him alone outdoors it means that he is, indeed, lost. I don't like "Oh no, I'm lost!" since it'll be mostly me or my guests that see the tag the majority of the time, when it's not applicable -- but the only alternative I've come up with is "indoor cat," which is lacking the cute factor. What are some options in the 28 character range? [more inside]

"Lucky" in Spanish as an animal's name

I'm writing a short story in which one of the characters has a cat named Lucky. For contextual reasons, it would make sense if the cat was named Lucky in Spanish. I know the Spanish word for "lucky" is "afortunada", but would this make sense as a pet's name? Do people in Spanish-speaking countries name their animals Lucky, and if so, would those animals be named Afortunada or another word?

I like clocks. And soon I'll be moving into a new place and would like to get three stylish clocks to put in various locations of my place. I want clocks that aren't exactly run-of-the-mill. Think unusual, conversation-starting clocks such as the Kit-Cat Klock from the 1930s (probably one of the three clocks will be a vintage black or red Kit-Cat Klock). How to keep our cat from urinating on our car?!

One of our cats is a habitual out-of-litterbox toilet user. Due to this issue, we've had to put him in the garage at night when we can't keep an eye on him. However, we recently purchased a new car and plan to begin putting it in the garage - but we're not sure how to keep that cat - plus possible one other - from urinating on the car. Can anyone think of some solutions? Right now all I can think of is a cover or tarp.

Cat feeder

So I usually feed the cats dry and wet food. Well I use a cat feeder and I think it works but does not fill up the bowl. It delivers food on the back of the bowl but does not fill up the bowl. Well now my husband and I are gone for the night and I can't help it but sit here and worry that they are starving and not getting enough food. I will be back tommorow but I left today this morning and I didn't expect I will be gone for the night. They just have this feeder that is supposed to throw down food by gravity.
