I know I'm asking the impossible, and can't believe I'm actually asking this, but I'm at my wits end. How can I train my cat not to knead me to death?

How can we store our kitchen sink dishwashing sponge to prevent it being eaten by our cat?
Rupert, after years of ignoring it, has recently decided that the sponge is a fun thing to shred and nibble on. Currently it sits on top of the sink edge on top of a spiky plastic soap saver thingy so it can dry. How can we store it so that it will be (a) easily accessible to humans, (b) not accessible to Rupert, and (c) able to air-dry? I'm imagining something like
this with a flap on top, for instance.

What practical, non-medical tips do you have for pet allergy sufferers who will have to stay in a home with a pet for multiple days? Next month I'll be faced with this. Reading previous questions, I saw a good suggestion - bring your own Pillow Case. What other things do you do when you know you have to live with someone with a pet for a few days? Any nonmedical suggestions for me, the visitor, are welcome, and I'd love to hear any kooky things you have done in the past that somehow worked for you.

My 3 year old female cat (DSH) is having urinary issues. We are on day 9 of antibiotics for a UTI (she had no crystals on her UA)and she is not improving. She will be going to the vet for a recheck soon, but I'd really like to hear other people's experiences with UTIs and bladder stones in cats. Does anyone recommend a particular supplement like cranberry? Should I ask the veterinarian to culture her urine for the right antibiotic? Money is in short supply, but I LOVE my cat and will do whatever it takes to get her better.

Zula got up on the counter this afternoon and ate about 1/3 cup of grease from ground beef and bacon. She's been pretty lazy since then, not eating dinner (no surprise). Can cats "overdose" on grease? Is there an amount that is considered toxic? Google told me about Pancreatitis so I know to watch for vomiting. I can call my vet in the morning.
