Appropriate memorial tattoo or cultural appropriation?

My kitty Ganesh passed away a few months ago and I'd like to memorialize him with a tattoo. As he was named after the Hindu god (as a kitten he was our little "destroyer of obstacles") I always assumed that I'd get a little Ganesh tattoo with maybe some kind of cat reference embedded in it. But I'm a white american atheist lady with no claim on Hindu culture. Could such a tattoo ever be appropriate on me, or is it just cultural appropriation and I should avoid it? [more inside]

What do cats want... in water?

I realize this isn't the most profound pet-care question, but it drives me crazy. I've got 2 healthy indoor/outdoor cats and I can't figure out how to best serve their water needs. Sometimes they appear to strongly prefer fresh water and so I change it 3 times a day; other times they ignore the fresh and drink from a bowl that's been sitting out for a week. Are cats just weird?

I found a cat, now what

My neighbor down the hall knocked on my door and told me my cat had gotten out into the stairway. I verified that both mine were inside, so it's a different cat. It's possible it snuck in behind someone So I am keeping it overnight & taking it to the humane society for chip scanning tomorrow. Is that the right thing to do? [more inside]

Our cat is defecating RIGHT OUTSIDE of his litterbox. How to stop?

Help me medicate my cat without trauma

My aging kitty (as seen here) now gets multiple medications daily, most of which I can sprinkle over a bit of tuna slurry, and she's happy to eat. But she has an occasional pill that ruins tuna for her, and it has also ruined pill pockets for her, so now I'm at a loss for how to give it to her without the traditional approach of poking it down her throat. This is horrible for both of us. Please share any tips you might have for other tricks to make this easy and painless!

My cat is an asshole

My 15 year old cat is becoming more of a jerkface. He's always been a bigmouth, but within the past year he's ramped up the yowling. Acclimating Kitten in Bedroom

I'm bringing a kitten home next week. I was told he should be separated and placed in a quiet area away from my dog, then slowly introduced. My apartment is VERY SMALL. My bedroom is carpeted and I don't want him peeing there, or on my bed while he's in there with a litter box. He may learn that's where the box will ALWAYS be and it's ok to go there. If I lock him in the bathroom, it has no window and he'll be in tight quarters for AT LEAST a week to acclimate to smells/sounds. However, THAT IS the location I prefer one of his litter boxes to be. Also, how could I teach him he'll have his own bed to sleep on at bedtime and it WON'T be mine.
