Where can I wash my convertible? I bought a '92 Infiniti M30 convertible recently. The original soft top (plastic window) is on it. I live in an apartment building, and can't wash my own car, except at a wash-it-yourself place, which is kinda far from my house. That said, there are tons of car washes here in LA at all levels of automation. Can I bring my car to a traditional carwash? The kind that drop the soap on the car from on top but they wash it with towels? What about the automated kind? I've never owned a convertible, I need some guidelines.

Today I washed my car at one of those touch less car washes that you just drop money into and drive in. This particular one was a Laserwash There was a maintenance man in one of the bays with a company truck. I watched him point a remote control at the exit of the wash and initiate a car wash two different times for testing purposes, I assume. My question is, if I had the code and it was an IR remote is it possible to program a universal remote to send that code and activate the carwash in the same manner? Searching Google for Laserwash codes didn't help me much.

I want personal recommendations for carwashes in Boston/Metro West. I like the kind where I put money in and get to soap up my car myself. But I will consider other kinds as long as you tell me that they are very effective. (I have been dissatisfied with conveyor/brushless carwashes in the past and I hate to waste money.)

What's the best car wash in LA? In a perfect world, it'd be within 2 miles East of West of the Sepulveda corridor -- between Sherman Oaks and Culver City. I've tried the Handy J, which some internet sites recommend, but they are inconsistent.
