I didn't find this thread helpful. Does anyone have new information related to obtaining car safety information for older cars? I am considering purchasing a 1989 Subaru Loyale, a car I owned prior to having children and loved. I currently drive a newer 1998 Honda Civic, but I really miss my old Loyale. I don't want to move back in time if it will jeopardize the safety of my children.

I am going to buy a used car for my teen. I have the cash. The economy is in shambles. Cars are not exactly selling like hotcakes now. Shouldn't I be able to go to a car dealership and get a helluva deal now? What am I missing here?

Can I buy a brand new 5-year-old car? For example, can I buy a brand-new *2003* Nissan 350Z? Or did they really sell each and every last one back in 2003? Where do unsold new cars go when the new models come out? Any car dealers out there that can explain this to me? They must end up somewhere.
