I'm stuck in my flat

The electric gate into our block of flats has malfunctioned and nobody can move their cars in or out. It's nearly 9PM here in the UK and we can't get hold of our landlord or the building company. If, come morning, we can't get our cars out of the car park can we (legally) charge someone (anyone?!) for the taxi journeys we're going to have to take instead? (There's moisture in one of the safety sensors and it's stopping the gate from operating, I'm working on a solution to dry it out.)

I have a parking space allocated to my flat in West London. Someone else keeps parking there, and ignoring all signs.

How do I "persuade" that person to stop parking there?

Parking my hired car in a car park

24 hours in London (arriving at Heathrow and leaving from Stansted). Where shall we leave our luggage while we see the city? Three of us arrive Thursday at 6:45 in the morning at Heathrow Airport. A fourth is already in London, on the Northern line of the tube. All four of us are spending Thursday night at a bed & breakfast near Stansted Airport and we fly out of that airport at 6:45 Friday. We want to see the city, while leaving our luggage in a secure location. So here's the plan I came up with. We will rent - I mean, "hire" - a car. I found this list of park and ride stations. Finchley Central has about the most parking spaces of any stop on the Northern line. So we will park there, the fourth member of our party will meet us, and we will leave all the bags in the car and take the tube into the city. After a few hours in the city, we'll go back to our car and drive to the B&B.

Is there a better way to do this? I'm guessing it'll probably be 9:00 by the time we get to Finchley Central. Will all the parking spaces be taken by then? Will there be any place to park nearby the station? Should we park at a different station? Or should we do something else entirely?

Which Chicagoland parking garages are most notable? Which historical, architecturally-interesting, or culturally relevant parking structures in or around Chicago are missing from this list?

(corncob buildings + condos)

Millennium Park
Oxford: Parking for myself and a car?

Oxford UK: Want to know where I can park myself at an inexpensive B&B and my car.
(There is an older AskMe B&B Oxford question, but it is two years old.)

Looking for an inexpensive B&B for myself --as a student I always liked the cheap ones where I got to stay with an "old" couple whose kids had moved out or somesuch. Needn't be in city centre, but I would like it to be no more than a half hour by foot, bus, train or car.

As for the car, I know this is somewhat dependent on where I lodge, but will I be ticketed without a permit for street parking? How is parking generally in Oxford? Are daily or weekly car parks available for a reasonable rate?
