I have been diagnosed with pregnancy-related carpal syndrome in both wrists. I also have recurring tendonitis in my left wrist (i'm left handed for what it's worth). I had some custom splints made at the doctors but they aren't helping. The midwife and obgyn both refuse to treat it because of the pregnancy. I'm not even allowed to take anti-inflammatories (i'm 8 months pregnant). But i'm in pain and my wrists are swollen. I have been taking vitamin b in addition to prenatals but it isnt helping. Any suggestions to keep the pain at bearable levels? I'm really miserable here. Thanks.

My brother (in-law) is having surgery tomorrow on his hands to help with his Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. He's a roofer, a general contractor and also a rock-climber, so you can imagine how not having the use of his hands for up to six weeks is going to drive him crazy. They live nowhere near me, but I'd like to present him with a list of things that he could do while bed-ridden and beyond. Points for originality, and thanks.

My job involves a lot of repetitive motion and I type way too much outside of work. I've had RSI issues in the past, and I want to strengthen my wrists/arms/shoulders so that they don't flare up again. Any recommended books or web sites where I can find RSI-specific exercises?
(Yes, yes, I know. Just Type Less. Assume for the moment that's not an option).

CarpalTunnelFilter: My CTS is flaring up. (Numb and tingling for about an hour upon awakening, moderate pain throughout the day.) Before you say "Go to a Doctor", I am going to a doctor, next week probably. (I have to call the HMO and see when they can fit me in.) What can I do in the meantime? Right now I am: wearing a wrist splint while sleeping, and taking ibuprofen. I've also given myself a rest from knitting, and doing cross-stitching instead. I find that putting heat on the wrist helps, but some people are telling me to use ice instead. Anyone have personal experience of what works? What should I make sure to bring up to the doctor? Has B6 worked for anyone?
