Should I change my job and my country of residence?

I am facing a huge question that I don't know how to navigate and don't feel like I can talk to anyone about. The short story is that I have a precarious-feeling academic job in the Midwestern U.S. and applied for a job in an English-speaking country in the Southern Hemisphere. Today, I found out that I am on the short list for the job. And now I'm just not sure what to do. [more inside]

Time to look for a new job? Lacking the resources to help patients...

I've been working for a medical supply company for almost a year now within the medical records department. Excited at first when I started last May of 2013 after being laid off for 3 months from my optical job for 8 years. Double the pay plus benefits to boot. Fast forward to April now and I've become semi-miserable the past 2-3 weeks. [more inside]

Does not having a local address mean I'm not a viable job candidate?

SO offered job in another city. I'm not sold on it being a hot idea.

Short version: My wife has been offered a two year position in another city. I want to support her and this may be a good opportunity for her, but my instinct says it would be a mistake for our future and our finances. For the many MeFites who have undoubtedly been in similarly sized shoes: aside from budgets and plus/minus lists, what do we need to be considering when making this decision and what is a good way to create consensus if it seems like we can't agree?
