I am unhappy with my professional life, but have no idea what I’d rather being doing. Does a person exist who can help me either figure out how to be happy with what I’m doing, or figure out what I really want instead? And if so, how do I find them?

I'm looking for a professional careers coach in LA to give me advice about changing careers (especially ones who are good at talking with MBA grads who don't necessarily want a typical MBA-type job). The variety of coaches available out there is a bit confusing and some of them are expensive - can anyone personally recommend one? And what criteria should I be judging them on anyway?

My husband and I (both in our 30s) will graduate in May and then move to a completely new-to-us part of the country for a fresh start. During our last semester, we want to work together on defining and figuring out what our new career paths will be in the next phase of our lives. Please help us design a program to help us ask the right questions and do the right work to help us figure out what we want! More about our specific situation within.

In the last couple months I've come to realize that I am not alone. My personality is my problem and it is what has made this post-college thing so hard on me.
ENTPs are sort of visionaries who can be the best and innovate and succeed at anything we put our heart to but we get bored very easily if we aren't socially, creatively satisfied and doing some "analysis" or "innovation" or "problem solving". We also don't take well to being "told what to do".
(Sort of like a cross between Steve Jobs (visionary, creative, secretly self-obsessed) Calvin (from the comic), Jack Sparrow, The Joker, and Wile E. Coyote. )

I've found what bothers me about my office job -- my position and what I do is utterly useless. What I do has absolutely no effect on anyone, nor does it increase my employer's profit or success in any measurable way. I've realized this is what leaves me absolutely drained at the end of the work day, though I've spent the day sitting at a desk. It also makes me dread going to work in the morning because I could not feel more like a cog in the machine. What are some jobs where I can actually feel useful or needed, or feel like I'm contributing to society?

After a few years of full-time freelancing, I'm exploring a return to in-house work. What I've found in the early days of my search is that I'm in a kind of career limbo, a few years overqualified for the mid-level jobs and a few years underqualified for the senior-level jobs. So: How to deal?

Even worse, perhans I'm an odd person, but I'm going to feel terrible telling either of these companies "No" and it's stressing me out a lot. I hate disappointing people. This emotional aspect is making it really hard for me to just quit stressing and think clearly about which makes more sense.

Portable careers?
There was a comment the other day in one of the threads about portable careers and I'm very interested in breaking out of the corporate structure and becoming more mobile again.
What are the best resources for making the jump? What are the best career paths to follow to make the move? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
