Cleaning My Cloth/Leather Bag

I have owned a cloth messenger bag with leather trim around the edges for a couple years. Over time, the cloth has gotten somewhat dingy (no issues with the leather). I am unlikely to find another bag like this, so I want to keep it clean, if I can. Laundromats won't touch it because of the leather and I can't machine wash it for the same reason. I have tried scrubbing it by hand with different things - vinegar, lemon juice, and bleach (all diluted in some amount of water) to no avail. Internet searches haven't turned up many other suggestions. Are there any recommendations for other things to try?

Registered nurse vs physician assistant

Hello. I need your opinion on going back to school. I currently work in healthcare in a hospital lab as a technician. I make good money don't get me wrong but I would like more responsability, more clinical diagnosis and treatment related job. I want to interact with patients and be a more important person than just a lab tech. I am thinking nursing school or physician assistant school. Please tell me the reality on the field, which one job gives you more satisfaction: pa or rn?i am 27, almost married,no kids, no house. I have a bachelor in biology/ medical technology. Do you think the rn to nurse practitioner is a better option than the physician assistant?

I need a review or overview of nursing quality indicator systems.

I am on the hunt for a review, overview, listing of, or any other compilation of sorts that you may find explaining all the different American quality indicator systems in health care, specifically nursing if you're that good. AHRQ, ANA, NDNQI, .... but a more inclusive list and description of all their individual quality outcome management recommendations. I've been searching for days and haven't really found exactly what I need or want. Thanks!

Make Me Fancy.

For a bunch of reasons (some good, some bad) I have the next two and half months totally free. I don't have to do a thing, I have no reason to make any more money and I've got oceans of time, a nest egg of savings, and a gym membership. Previous times like this I've focused on making my skill-set or apartment better/fancier, but now I want to focus on myself. No creative projects, no learning and growing, just pure, unabashed vanity. What can I do in two and half months to get all kinds of pretty? Ideally during the day. [more inside]

Recurrent mouth canker sores

Has anyone battled with recurrent canker sores in the mouth? They hurt like crazy and I get them sometimes as often as 2 times in a month. I discussed with the dentist and general doctor but I don't think they have a cure to stop getting them other than ease the pain when you do get them. What is your experience?

Can a urgent care clinic ban you?

I was at urgent care for a ear problem and the doctor only spent less than 2 minutes with me, didnt even look at the other ear, gave me a prescription and left. The nurse came in and wanted me to sign a form saying I was "satisfied with my treatment and had all my questions answered" I told the nurse I had more questions for the doctor before I would sign it. She said the doctor was not going to answer any more questions and I overheard him saying to call the police, I was amazed as I was being very polite. So I left, as I was leaving he said I was banned from the clinic. Can they do that?

Can a relationship progress if you see each other only on weekends?

We usually get together Friday evening, spend all day Saturday, and then I go home Sunday afternoon. He's a self-employed lawyer and has had a habit of going into the office Sunday afternoons to prepare for court Monday. (He goes to court Monday afternoons after working in his office that morning and then works in his office the rest of the week.) If there's a holiday Monday or special event (e.g., Superbowl), he skips going to the office Sunday afternoon, and I'll usually stay Sunday night. [more inside]

Pick my daycare! What am I missing?

None of my normal "brainstorming bounce-off" people are available to chew over this question with me... and I need to choose a home daycare and confirm one or the other by TOMORROW. Eek! Which one should I pick? Disclaimer: I got really good vibes from both, liked them a lot, so I can't decide just based on personality and trust. I looked at tons of places, and these were my two favorites. I'm looking for someone to watch my two-and-a-half year old daughter and my eight-month old son. [more inside]

Help me buy my own health insurance.

I'm self employed. I need health insurance. My main concern is a random ER visit that will put me in debt for the rest of my life, so I told my wife not to worry about deductible prices, since I only need to go in once every few years anyway. She found something with a $4,000 deductible. And that was like $80/mo. The other ones were even more expensive. Is this price range right? Is this the only way to protect myself from crippling debt?

Change of career: Going into the health care administration field ??

I might need to go back to work and I am thinking about a career change. I have held business analysts/planner positions in retail but while I enjoy the actual work, i don't enjoy the purpose/ field. Working retail is starting to feel a bit pointless, trying to sell more stuff to people all the time. I am interested in taking my skills to a different field. Maybe a similar job but with a different goal. Namely healthcare administration could be what I am looking for. I'd would want to work for patient advocacy groups or in the government (ie: not trying to make an extra buck to private insurance). But to do that I figure I need to understand how the private system works too. [more inside]

What is your perspective on the "ideal" child custody arrangements?

While recognizing that I'd like your advice on the principles and best practices of a shared child custody agreement. I currently share both joint and physical custody with my daughter's mother, and things are going just fine, but wondering if you know of any resources (online, written, or your own experiences) to help me consider what is best for my daughter now and in the future, and maybe it can serve as a general resource for other parents' looking to establish positive custody agreements. Cat sitter in Boston

I moved back to Boston a bit over a year ago. previously I was living in the suburbs in a southeastern city and had a really great pet sitter: she would come to the house to care for my pets daily when I travelled. I have had trouble finding a similar person here. I have had a few short work-related trips, for which my building doorman sufficed. When I took a longer personal vacation, I used yelp to find a pet sitter. The person I chose was recommended but REALLY did not measure up. (ie did not show up at all:please memail me if you want who never to use). I am looking for someone who will come to my home daily to feed/water my 2 cats. I live in Fort Point (so parking can be a challenge). Anyone have suggestions? (note; I prefer to leave my cats in situ as vs boarding them)

What to include in a care package that I'm sending to my friend who has been committed to a psychiatric hospital?

My closest friend has been admitted to an excellent psychiatric hospital for about 90 days due to some major issues with her bi-polar disorder. Due to her noncompliant behavior & some comments that she has made, she is on restriction right now but I have been told that I can send her a care package & they will allow her to have it when they feel like she deserves privileges. I've looked all over the internet for some help on what is ok & not ok to send but I'm finding little information. Does anyone have suggestions on what someone in that situation would appreciate & what is allowed & not allowed per hospital regulations? I'm sending the obvious stuff like snacks (small, pre-packaged in cellophane), books, hard cover journals, pictures (no frames), socks, toiletries & a few other things to keep her busy. [more inside]
