What percentage of youth in foster care have parents who were in FC?

Research help: What percentage of youth in foster care are born to parents who were at one point in foster care of themselves? I'm looking for information on the prevalence of intergenerational child abuse and experiences of foster care. In addition to the question above, I am also interested in what percentage of perpetrators of child abuse were victims of child abuse themselves. I've done some digging myself and haven't been able to find any data on this.

Ready for career change. Nanny to ......

With 13+ years experience working in the field of child care, I am ready for a career change. Most recently (the last 5 years), I have been working as a nanny in a major American city. Previously, I've been a camp counselor, Au-Pair, and tutor, etc. I'm looking to parler this skill set into something outside of 'household help'. [more inside]

Pick my daycare! What am I missing?

None of my normal "brainstorming bounce-off" people are available to chew over this question with me... and I need to choose a home daycare and confirm one or the other by TOMORROW. Eek! Which one should I pick? Disclaimer: I got really good vibes from both, liked them a lot, so I can't decide just based on personality and trust. I looked at tons of places, and these were my two favorites. I'm looking for someone to watch my two-and-a-half year old daughter and my eight-month old son. [more inside]

What is your perspective on the "ideal" child custody arrangements?

While recognizing that I'd like your advice on the principles and best practices of a shared child custody agreement. I currently share both joint and physical custody with my daughter's mother, and things are going just fine, but wondering if you know of any resources (online, written, or your own experiences) to help me consider what is best for my daughter now and in the future, and maybe it can serve as a general resource for other parents' looking to establish positive custody agreements. How does one "show" appreciation for their child's care takers?

My children go to a day care where the parents rotate responsibilities to show 'appreciation' for their child's care takers. Intent is to do something 'special' to express (however remotely we can demonstrate the scale of appreciation) how much we appreciate our care takers/teachers. These appreciation days rotate on a bi-weekly basis in my infant son's room and I have this Friday. The class has three teachers and their charges are all kiddies age 6-12 months. (continued...)
