How do I protect a card game invention?

I have invented a card game and would like to protect it before I start large-scale game testing. I can't find useful information about the laws surrounding protecting this kind of intellectual property. First, what kind of protections should I be seeking for a card game? Second, any recommendations on reputable, ethical lawyers in Seattle who can help me protect my game?

Looking for the rules to a card game called half penny up the ring. Used to play it as a child in the UK. It involved a standard deck of cards, and each round you moved your coin up a series of concentric rings it get a winner. That's all I remember!

Cribbage in New York City? Where? I haven't played cribbage since my lallygagging senior days at Der Rathskellar of my uni's student union. Recently I've wanted to start playing again. No one I know plays, though. Sure, I can teach them, but it'd be nice to play with people who already know the game.

Is there any place to play here in NYC? I've not found anyone on Craigslist or any Meetup group of players, nor can I afford to run one at the moment. Googling got me the national association, but there's no branch here. Suggestions? Thanks.

Looking for international or obscure card games

CardGamesFilter: International or unusual card games I can play with 2 other people? Last night, I played an Indonesian card game called 41 with some friends and had a real blast. I'm wondering if there are any other international card games that I could play with my friends.

I'll also expand this question to include obscure card games. We already know all about bridge, canasta, euchre, etc. I'm talking really obscure card games.

Links to rules would also be appreciated.

I'm sure all the MeFites have some great suggestions for me.

Thanks!

Educational card game

Ran across the card game Ekklesia: The Congregating and was wondering if a similar game had ever been professionally produced. Some cartoon style cards can be see here.

The name sounds like a play on the words Magic: the Gathering, a game I understand employs thousands of cards and complicated game mechanics. Has any company published a card game or RPG something like this but with the theme of early Christian/Late Roman history? I've heard of Redemption, but this is bible-based, not history-based so it isn't what I'm looking for.

Anyone know of a good online game of casino? I'm looking for an online version of casino. Google isn't really helping because "casino" gets misinterpreted. Anyone know where I can find a version to play?

Rules for card game Durok?

Help me rediscover the rules to a Russian card game I learned when I was a kid. One summer when I was younger, my friend's grandmother came over from Russia to visit family. While she was here, she taught us a fun, fast-paced card game called "Durok". The only problem is that now neither I nor my friend can remember the rules, and Internet searches only turn up programs stuffed with viruses - however, it does confirm that this is the actual name of the game. The only detail I remember is that you'd yell, "Durok!" ("Idiot") at the loser. Does anyone know this game...or at least have better Google-fu?

Big 2 Garden game (java, motorola E365). What the hell are the rules?

I have a Motorola E365. One of the Java games it comes with is a card game called Big 2 Garden. The idea appears to be to get rid of your cards by playing them according to some rules. What the hell are the rules to this game? There's a review of the phone which includes a screenshot of this game here.
