My baby (car) has a secret (compartment)

My hatchback car (Honda Fit) doesn't have a separately-locking trunk or glovebox. Can I add a lock-box or secret compartment somewhere inside the car for stashing a few items, for those times I must turn over my keys (parking garage, valet)? Ideally I'd only be securing/concealing 3 deck-of-cards-sized items: iPod, GPS, EZPass. There are no official Honda accessories that do this, nor can I find any Fit-fanatic mods that have addressed it.

What's wrong with my car's A/C?

I have a 2003 Jetta with around 75,000 miles. It is hot here, and I have been running the air conditioning nearly every day for the past month or two, and I have noticed some strange occurrences. First, if I am parked with the A/C running, even for a short amount of time, the car seems to vibrate rather forcefully. In addition, when I pull away from the parking spot, there is always a fairly large pool of water where my car was. Also, when I am driving fast, say 60-75 mph, and I change the speed of the A/C from high to low, there is a noticeable jerk in my acceleration. It is most unusual... [more inside]

Another car shopping question, this time concerning seats and back support.

I test drove a Nissan Versa and I liked the car very much, but felt that maybe my lower back hurt after 45 minutes or so of driving--even though the seat felt good when I first climbed into it. Otherwise, great value. And when I talk to other people who own this car, they tell me how comfortable the seats are. I'm 5'11", 160 pounds--pretty average I would suppose. So my question: 1) How likely is it that my back will "adjust" to the car? 2) If the seat doesn't work after awhile, has anyone had success with lumbar support products (pillows, etc.)--or is that just wishful thinking? Need a BMW mechanic near Fort Lee, NJ

Anyone know a good BMW mechanic in the Fort Lee, NJ (Near the George Washington Bridge) area? I have a 1988 325ix and need someone trustworthy and competent to take care of it. Service at the BMW dealer is outrageously expensive. I've tried various BMW message boards and come up empty. Something in a 30 minute radius would be nice, but I'll take what you got!

Should I keep sinking money into this piece 'o junk?

My 2001 Chevy Impala, which has given me nothing but problems for most of the time I've had it, has thrown another doozie at me. It overheated out of the blue yesterday, and it was pouring out coolant from the bottom. I brought it to my trusty mechanic this morning. He called and told me it was the head gasket in the rear (?) and that his shop doesn't get involved in engine repairs. He recommended a place, and they said *if* the cylinder heads aren't cracked, it would be ballpark $1300. I'm getting close to paying this thing off. There's [more inside]

A minor fender bender. Will it ruin our lives?

About a month ago, my pregnant wife and I were in a minor fender bender on Rt. 202 in NJ. The woman before us stopped short, and we hit her going about 20 mph. This wasn't our fault. Their wa sa police car who made an erratic turn at the merge of the road that cause a few cars in front of us to swerve and or strop short at the time. The mini-van had a minor scratch and bump. Our jeep had no damage..... I don't know the full details of the law, but NJ law seems to say that the person who hits from behind is automatically at fault. Period. [more inside]
