Don't Their Heads Get Hot in the Summer?

For the last several years I have seen an increase in young men (late teens to late twenties) wearing knit caps. Summer, Winter, the season doesn't seem to matter. My question is this. How and where did this "fashion statement" originate? And a secondary question would be, don't they get hot wearing those hats in the middle of the summer?

Trying To Find Evidence Of The Wendy's Jazz Cap

I'm looking for a photo of a Wendy's Jazz Cap, or even just first-hand recollections of them. These were apparently some type of multicolored painter's cap sold at Wendy's establishments in the late 80's(possibly 1988ish). There seems to be no trace of their existence online. Phone calls to the Wendy's Customer Service hotline have come back with a "try eBay" response. A few good but ultimately fruitless tries to track one down can be found on the comments to my blog. Any information, photos, or recollections would be very much appreciated.

CAP ON, cap off, THE CAPPER!

Is it becoming standard to type business letters in all caps? I received a letter today from my insurance broker and it is typed in all caps. It was not a form letter, it was a letter pertaining to specifics regarding my policy, a regular business letter. Maybe I'm old school, but it just struck me as amateurish and unprofessional to type a business letter in all caps. Not too long ago I received a letter from a real estate agent also typed in all caps. What is the point of typing in all caps? I am astonished any business would allow such correspondence. Is this becoming common now? It comes off like the person dropped out of 8th grade but perhaps I missed the memo on the ever changing nature of business etiquette. Enlighten me please.

Where can I get a hat like the argyle cap that Ricky Lizalde wears on Project Runway? It's a kangol-style cap with a black/white/gray argyle pattern. I tried to find a picture of him online, but the one on the Bravo site has him wearing a different hat, and I don't have the technology to take a screencap from my TiVo.

Caps or fillings for a young child?

Dentist wants to cap my 5 y.o. kid's teeth under general anesthesia. Anyone with experience or knowledge of this? How did it work out? After 2 years of no-problem-at-all regular dental checkups, suddenly all hell has apparently broken loose with my kid's teeth and the dentist wants to cap a bunch of them, partly because fillings might need future work, and partly as a preventative for any further decay. I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has done this, and how it went. We need to decide between caps and fillings. Thanks for any info you can give me!

Boxers or briefs?

What's up with Europe and their aversion to swimming trunks? In doing some research on bathing suits, I've found several sites that mention in France, Germany and other European countries men must wear Speedo or brief-style swim suits in public pools. Trunks (boxer shorts-style) are prohibited for "hygienic reasons." What is unhygienic about swim trunks? Oh, and why does France require even bald men to wear bathing caps?

Do they still make adjustable baseball caps?

I'm looking to buy a new baseball cap, but I hate fitted ones. Everywhere I look I find only fitted hats, or those adjustable ones with the cloth strip and brass lock. I don't want those either. I just want an old-fashioned baseball cap with plastic snaps and holes. I don't want to use Ebay or scour thrift stores. Any advice on where I can look? Thanks!

All I Want for Christmas Is My Girl's Front Teeth

Dental Filter: What will it cost my girlfriend to cap or replace her dead front tooth? The tooth has been dead awhile. She broke it as a teen and had a root canal, and after a few years it developed a discoloration. She can feel a cavity on the back side of it now. She is currently unemployed and she has no insurance.

We've been trying to get her in to see a dentist with a sliding scale, but they're fairly rare and very hard to schedule with. We don't want this to go on too long. I can cough up anything less than $1000 if I have to; past that and we're getting beyond my means. I can't put this on a credit card.

Dental offices will never give me even a ballpark on what this costs. I'd really like to know if this is something so amazingly expensive that we HAVE to go to a dentist with a sliding scale, or if this is a problem I can just throw some money at to make it go away.

She's been told it can cost up to $5000 to replace her front teeth (both are dead, but only one is discolored), but I think she might be thinking of the very high-end ceramic replacements. I don't know if that came from anyone with authority.

Wanted: A Whole Buncha Bottle Caps

Where can I find/order/steal/buy large numbers of bottle caps in a hurry? Okay, to make a long story short, I need large quantities of bottle caps. There's a project at my school that requires me and about 600 other people to get bottle caps by next week. The caveat? We each need 110 of them, so sources here are going to be completely dry.

So, I need a source for bottle caps, preferably on the internet and with overnight/quick shipping. I need at minimum 110, but I would ideally be able to get 3800 or so for the group of people I'm doing this with. Unfortunately, all Googling has garnered me is links to endless collectors sites, whereas I need bulk quantities of cheap, simple bottlecaps.

Can anyone help? Are there any recycling/bottling companies or something that you know of that would sell bottle caps or something? I'm in Texas and have limited transportation, if that helps.

I have an old ball cap that I love. I've had it for about eight years, and now it's getting too tight to wear, which makes me woe-begotten. Any tips/magic/old recipes to make an old hat stretch out a bit without destroying it? I don't want to replace it.

Disabling caps lock?

How to require Caps Lock to be held down for a few seconds before activating? I hate caps lock. It single-handedly reduces my productivity about 30%. I hit it, I'd say, about 1 out of every 10 times I have to type an "a". Then I have to spend time retyping whatever it is I typed in caps. Ideally, I'd like a feature where you have to hold it down for a few seconds before it activates or, barring that, disable it completely. I'm using WinXP on a (sager) laptop, incidentally.
Experience with alternatives to cat-declawing?

CatFilter: In an AskMe thread a while back, I saw the Klaw Kontrol bag described as a good way to control your cat for various necessary procedures. Our usually sweet-tempered girl cat has taken to randomly destroying things while we're not here, and we want to install these things as an alternative to declawing (which we will not do). Anyone have any experience with these, or other "Kitty Stop It" aids?
