Help me remember this movie...

I'm trying to remember what the title of this movie was. I think it was made in the 1960's or 1970's in the U.S. I remember watching it on TV on the Sunday Matinee show in the 1980's. The plot involved this millionaire who wanted to attack the Soviet Union, he had a small force which was to attack Russia by driving trucks across the polar ice cap. All I can remember was that in the end of the film his plan is thwarted by the Soviets, who send planes to bomb the ice, and the trucks sink to the bottom of the ocean. Any ideas?

Metal roofing on a shed...sheet and ridge cap installation?

I'm nearly the end of my first major building project...an 8'x8' shed with a foot overhang on all sides. I've just put up the trusses (purchased them, with a 4 in 12 pitch) and put 3/8" plywood on top. A neighbour gave me a whole bunch of metal sheet roofing in 12' lengths that I will cut down to length. My question is...he didn't give me a ridge cap and I have no idea what to buy or how to install that. Advice please? FWIW, I'm not 100 clear on the metal sheet installation either, so help there is appreciated too.

Please keep in mind that this is just a shed and I don't expect anything even close to perfection! Thanks!

What is the best and easiest way to make a template for designers to use to submit cap designs?

I'm organizing a fitted cap design contest, and I'm trying to find the best and easiest way to make a template for designers to use to submit cap designs, which is harder than t-shirt designs because cap designs must be 3D. Is it possible on Photoshop, Illustrator, Maya, or something else? Please help! Ideally, this template has to make the design process as easy as possible, so I'm reluctant to use Maya or other 3D modeling software. Is there a way to do this on Photoshop or Illustrator? Or is there some other method I'm not considering? Designers should be able to submit designs as simple as this and as complicated as this.

Mysterious network speed cap on my PC

There is a mysterious network cap somewhere on my PC, tried everything I know. Okay, so I changed ISP recently because I couldn't seem to get above a 1MB connection. I switched to Qwest 7MBs line, and I still can't seem to get any higher then 1MBs. Here's the odd thing, I installed a PCI Gigabit ethernet card and all of the sudden I am gettting 2MBs, but no more.

I have an ASUS m2npv-vm mobo that uses the Nvidia nForce 430 chipset with gigabit lan and also hooked up a Rosewill (Realtek chipset) PCI gigabit lan. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers numerous times, and reset all BIOS settings to default. I am having the same cap on all web browers and my utorrent application. Any help would be appreciated.

Caps made in Australia?

I'm looking for some plain (single colour, something basic, no logos -- I'll be sewing my own patch onto them) baseball cap style hats that are made in Australia. Bonds tell me they don't make them and, off hand, I don't know any other Australian clothing brands that manufacture locally. Does anyone know an Australian label for baseball caps that actually makes them in Australia? If you know a particular clothing brand is made in Australia, but you're not sure if they make baseball caps, feel free to post their details anyway. Thanks.

Who came up with such a silly-looking cap?

Where the the design for the cycling cap originate? My wife was rooting around in a pile of my stuff and pulled out a cycling cap that was given to me last year. After making me try it on and then laughing at how silly I looked (that is not me in the picture, by the way), she asked me what it was about this cap that made it special for cycling, and who came up with the design in the first place.

After thinking hard, I realized that I had no clue. I searched the series of tubes and found this thread that attempted to answer the question. While it explained the functionality of the cap, it failed to explain who came up with the design.

Can the Ask MetaFilter gods help me explain the nature of the cycling cap to my wife (in the hopes that she'll let me keep it)?

Bell DSL is now capped

Legalfilter: I accidentally signed onto a 2-year contract for Bell DSL (Montreal Canada). Now just a month ago they changed their service from unlimited bandwidth to limited to 30 gigs a month with penalties up to 30$ a month.

This will not pass, it essentially means that I will definitely be paying double for my internet access for the rest of my life. I tried to appeal to the Bell people but they said that I can't get out of the contract unless I pay 100$ to get out of it. The only thing they have offered me is either a downgrade in speed, where apparently the bandwidth is unlimited, or an upgrade to a cap of 60Gb a month which isn't enough anyway.

I think it sucks that my service was changed and I'm not able to opt out of it and find another ISP. Is there anything that I can do to avoid this fee and get away from Bell?

Also, anyone have any recommendations for a new provider?

Lost my thumb drive cap.

I've lost the cap to my thumb drive. a) Does it matter? b) If so, where do I get a replacement? Specifically, it's a SanDisk Cruzer Micro 512MB drive.

If I just carry it around on my keychain in my pocket without a cap, is it likely to get damaged--either physically, or the data stored on it?

If I do need to replace it, where? Google and Froogle searches on thumb drive cap or flash drive cap don't find much, save for this one at a .au site I'm not familiar with. (Perhaps I'm not searching the right term? Is it called something else?) I haven't tried brick-and-mortar stores--does a store like Fry's or Best Buy have caps alone for sale?

How does one properly break in a fitted baseball cap?

I've always disliked the way that fitted baseball caps (especially the MLB-standard New Era 5950) fit, as they sit too high on the crown of my head. I've heard of various mojo that one can perform (including cutting out the mesh at the front of the cap, showering in it, etc.) to make them fit better, but was wondering if there might be someone with more practical experience out there. This link is the only one I've found that's even slightly relevant, and remains a bit vague on the whole mesh-butchering thing.
