Inversely, will a high end DSLR make me long for a P&S's small size?

For motion itself, will a new canon point and shoot (digic5) have the same movement quality as the 5d mark 3 (their nice digic 5 slr)? I understand that the lens quality will differ (chromatic aberration, etc), but what about seeing how the video handles movement, skew, and motion? [more inside]

Help a guy pick a camera lens?

I'm in the market for a new camera lens. I'm attempting to do my "due diligence" - if I'm going to pony up and drop $500 - $600 on a lens, I want to make sure it's right - but a lot of this information doesn't make sense to me. Step inside, would you? [more inside]

Can you ID this mystery plug?

Once again, I turn to AskMeFi to answer the question: what kind of cable is this? I just bought a digital camera, and it came with a cable that seems to have been included by mistake. The plug on it looks sort of like a mini-USB connector, but isn't. Here's a photo. Here's another. Any ideas? [more inside]

Digital Cameras : Help me with my memory card error

DigiCamFilter:
A follow up my last question about my Canon Elph S400 that, I thought, had a dying CF card. Now it appears that it just doesn't like large storage cards. With a 256 or 512 card I run a 50% chance (it seems) of encountering a memory card error. With a 128 card, I didn't have any trouble at all. [MI] [more inside]

How do I repair a broken Canon A80 battery cover?

I've got a Canon A80. It dropped. The battery door now does not close all the way, I know the door lost a 'latch' piece from the interior. I can't imagine it's under any sort of warrentee. So. Any thoughts on how to repair?

Infrared with Canon Powershot?

I have a Canon Powershot s50 digital camera which I dearly love. Is it possible to take infrared shots with it? I had a infrared filter for my old nikon fm slr, which, when used with infrared film, worked very well. I assume there must be some way to mount the same kind of filter on the digital camera, but will the sensor pick up the resultant filtered infrared image?

Kayaking with Camera

I have a Canon Digital Rebel camera and I want to take it kayaking with me (along with other wet activities if possible). Any suggestions on products that will keep this thing dry and still usable? Or should I just keep it in a bag and take it out when I need it? Anything is welcome!
