Hospice care - Medicare coverage for room and board?

I am hoping that someone will be able to point me in the direction of any programs that cover room and board in an inpatient hospice care facility in Michigan. The patient is my boyfriend's mother, who has refused chemo and is ready to call hospice to make her remaining time comfortable. She was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer in May and has just been given the prognosis of ~3 months. [more inside]

Hospice workers and disclosure

My mom has been in hospice care for pancreatic cancer for a few months now. It's obviously at a pretty late stage at this point. Whenever either she or I talk to the hospice care nurse, the nurse really doesn't want to talk about anything in the future, though, except in the vaguest of terms. [more inside]

Cat Hospice: Help our kitty enjoy her last time with us

Our wonderful kitty was just diagnosed with cancer. We are waiting today (I took the day off work for it, I am such a wreck) to hear more details, but the initial findings were very bad. So, what can I do to help her enjoy her last time with us? I know the vet will give us more information about pain meds (tho she doesn't seem to be in pain) and diet, but I wonder what other thoughts people can give. For example, it was from a friend that I learned it was OK to give her Pepcid A/C (confirmed dosage with vet), and I think that has been helping her tummy. Also, through googling I discovered that it is possible to euthanize in-home, which gives me some comfort for when her quality of life slips below an acceptable threshold. Anything else come to mind? Hospice

My mother's liver is failing, but nowhere near as fast as expected. She has been in home hospice care for two and a half months. My aunt wants me to take her to the doctor but I feel like the physical toll on my mother outweighs any probable benefit. Am I doing the wrong thing? What do I tell my aunt? [more inside]

Suggestions for outfitting a home hospice?

HomeHospiceFilter: my father is coming to live with us in the midst of his battle with mesothelioma and melanoma. I have a couple of months to furnish our teeny-tiny (10x10 plus closet) guest room with stuff that's comfortable, practical, and homey. Of course, I have a teeny-tiny budget, too. Suggestions?
