Breast Cancer Best Practices

I've just been diagnosed with breast cancer. As in, Wednesday. It is a small tumor, likely stage 1 or 2, but aggressive (ER+ and her2+) and I will have chemo, radiation, and then hormone-suppressing pills for a number of years. I am 38 years old and there is no history of breast cancer in my family. Needless to say, I am freaking the hell out. [more inside]

Questions for triple-negative breast cancer recurrence?

I found out that I had a recurrence of breast cancer about two months ago, and subsequently had a mastectomy towards the end of December. Although it is a local recurrence, I was told that I should get chemotherapy. This was a big shock to me - I thought the mastectomy would be the end of it - and I couldn't really think of any questions to ask. I'd like to prepare a list of questions to ask my doctor, and would appreciate some suggestions. Details inside. [more inside]

Father about to be diagnosed with cancer needs help with life insurance

I'm 49 and my wife is 44. We have two small children 7 and 2 and do not own life insurance. Last Friday, we learned my wife has breast cancer, and the same day found out there is a likelihood I could be diagnosed with bladder cancer in the following weeks. Is there any kind of life insurance which I should quickly try to secure in the short time I have while I am still basically healthy? [more inside]

How to handle job interviews while going through chemo/radiation for cancer?

I'm in the middle of treatment for breast cancer (chemo and radiation) and am unsure how to handle sharing this information (if I should at all) during my job interviews. What is my legal obligation? What is my moral obligation? What makes the most sense for everyone involved? [more inside]

Should my mom sue?

My mom was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, which sucks in many, many ways, not the least of which is that it seems that it could have been caught by her mammogram two years ago, but wasn't, possibly because the technician ignored information in her chart. She is now being encouraged by others to sue for malpractice, considering that her cancer has now had two extra years to progress. I'm wondering if she actually has a case, and if so, how should she proceed. This is kind of a long story, so there's more inside... [more inside]

Mastectomy

A dear family member is having a mastectomy/reconstruction/biopsy this friday. She's across the country, so I can't be there. I'd like to hear any success stories and warnings, plus any advice on how I can help or what I can send.
