Let's say Jack is in his 20s and in March 2011 he gets his first ever paycheque of $1000. He wants to put $100 into an RRSP account. When can he make this first deposit? Is it right away in March 2011, the first day in January 2012, or in April 2012 after he finally gets all his tax forms and files his taxes, getting a notice of assessment that states his contribution limit?

My wife has a 44-string Venus harp. I think it's the Cherub model. The Venus website suggests a website to order from, but ordering online from a US retailer adds prohibitive shipping (and brokerage) costs, so I really need a Canadian retailer.
Where can I buy harp strings near Niagara, or online? I'm willing to drive to Toronto if I have to, but would prefer to order them online.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Why do so few people use credit unions in Ontario, compared to Quebec and out West? They seem better than banks both ethically and financially (fewer fees, better interest). Is there any reason not to switch?

My boyfriend was recently laid-off from his job in a competitive industry where companies are concentrated in certain areas -- he can't find another job in the industry just anywhere. He is looking for a new job in the industry. We (both US citizens) plan to go together to whatever place he finds a job, and there are a good number of opportunities in Canada (relatively speaking), so we are trying to decide if he should apply for jobs there. If he were hired by a Canadian company, would I be able to move with him there, and work after a certain amount of time?

Buying Boots and a parka in Northern Alberta (Canada.) Where to look? The post title says it all.
I'm buying boots and a parka in Northern Alberta (Canada.) I'm only a couple hours north of Edmonton and can go there if necessary, but ordering online is also something I'd consider.
I plan to be spending a decent amount of time outside and want to get gear that will keep me warm, and last for years to come.
What are the quality names? Where is a good place to look?

Always desiring to experience living in Japan, I moved in the country from Canada almost a year ago on a working holiday visa, which will expire next month. My life here is stable so far, including a job at a company willing to sponsor me for a work visa. I want to live in Japan for a longer period, but the problem is I don't seem to meet the requirements for a visa. I am aware that getting married is the easiest way, but unfortunately, I do not have that possibility.
Is there anything I can do to stay and work in Japan longer?
