Calling all internationally mobile, 'creative-class' freelancers- how do you determine who taxes you, if your design clients are in one country (for me, USA) you live in another country (Germany) but are a citizen of yet somewhere else (Canadian)? Does everyone get a piece of my income?

As a US citizen, living and working abroad for many years, I recently heard of a new law that I must file tax returns on the US by Aug 31, 2011 or face a penalty. Anyone know about this? If US citizens live and pay taxes abroad, they generally are exempt up to $91,500.

I imported my car to Canada from the USA while in Vancouver on a work visa, so (as a non-settler) I paid no taxes on it. Now, I'd like to sell it — what should I do? Go back to the border office and import it for reals (how much would this cost?) or export it back to the US and sell it in a Carmax in Seattle or something?

Let's say Jack is in his 20s and in March 2011 he gets his first ever paycheque of $1000. He wants to put $100 into an RRSP account. When can he make this first deposit? Is it right away in March 2011, the first day in January 2012, or in April 2012 after he finally gets all his tax forms and files his taxes, getting a notice of assessment that states his contribution limit?

Hi!
I live in Canada and am catching up on my taxes.
While I was a student I was day trading through a discount brokerage.
Upon my request for a summary of Capital Gains/Losses, the discount brokerage I use told me that this is something I have to do on my own.

Revenue Quebec Filter: I mailed my taxes to Revenue Quebec somewhere around the 3rd or 4th of May. That's slightly late, but it's OK because they owe
me money. I even sent it express post so it wouldn't get lost. Two months later, I've received no cheque, no direct deposit, no notice of assessment--nothing.
