Help us get a passport so we can go to Mexico

My husband was born in the US and moved back to Canada as a baby with his Canadian parents. Apparently he received a proof of citizenship card when he was a teen but now it is lost. I understand that he will need this to apply for a Canadian passport. His sister is getting married in January in Mexico, where he will be in the wedding party. We have applied for the replacement citizenship card already about a month ago but have gotten no confirmation so far, and I just read on the website that it will take 6 months. This is not enough time to get it and the passport before mid January. Now we are panicked. Is there anything else we can do? Can he apply for an American passport instead in order to travel to Mexico? He has dual citizenship since he has an American birth certificate. Thanks

How to travel between USA/Canada as a dual citizen

DualCitizenshipFilter: I was born an American citizen, the son of a Canadian mother. A few years ago I applied for and received my Canadian citizenship, and was provided with my Certificate of Canadian Citizenship. I have never applied for and do not have a Canadian passport. If I were to enter Canada now (by air or land) what do I say, what do I tell them? Can I just show them my canadian card and be done with it? What about coming back to the U.S.A.? Can it be done both ways without either passport?

Questions about an American couple moving to Canada.

American here, with spouse. Thinking of moving to Canada within 5 years, but retaining US citizenship (both of us). One of us has quite marketable skills, the other is on disability. Will one of us being on disability hurt our chances?? Where do we start looking to learn about this process? How long does it usually take? What can we do to increase our chances of making this change? Anonymous so that work and a few other people don't find out before we let them know.

Je ne pas parle francais, but I could learn...

I am Canadian. My dad was born in France, but is a naturalized Canadian - i'm pretty sure he's given up his French citizenship. Both my paternal grandparents were French, and moved to Canada in the early 1950s (when my dad was 4). What (if anything) am I eligible for in terms of French (or EU) citizenship? [more inside]

Dual-Citizenship Planning for Future Children

My fiancee (soon to be wife) and I are planning on getting pregnant in 2006. Because we are smart people we have discussed the possibility of having the child born in a foreign country (we are both American) which would give him or her the advantage of dual-citizenship. [more inside]

Canadian proof of parenthood - does such a thing exist? A bit of an obscure question I know, but I require some official, government-provided proof that my parents are, in fact, my parents. [more inside]

Leaving the U.S.A.

Before the U.S. Election, a number of people said that they would move to Canada or elsewhere or even renounce their citizenship if Bush won. Does anyone know of anyone who may have actually done this? Or how to find such a person? [more inside]
