Tips for a trip to Mexico?

I'm headed to Mexico - tomorrow! We're driving, and will be headed for Rocky Point (Puerta Penasco) and San Felipe. There'll be a mix of camping and hotels, and it's just me and my SO going. Besides sunscreen and reading material, what should I take to ensure maximum awesomeness? Any great places you've been to in either city that you'd recommend? My Spanish is at about the level of a 3 or 4 year old kid, the SO is fluent, if that matters.

Specific recommendations: Car camping on the central California coast?

Five of us from San Francisco and Los Angeles like to meet in the middle along the coast once a year and car-camp for a long weekend. The past few years we've had a blast at Limekiln State Park campground, but it's under new management now and they won't allow us to reserve a specific ('our') campsite. In case we can't get one of the spots we want there, we'd like some backups to make reservations with somewhere between the southern end of Monterey Bay and San Luis Obispo—any suggestions? Hang on, let me tell you what we liked about Limekiln. [more inside]

Where do I camp in Hampshire?

Where on earth can I camp in Hampshire at this time of year? Must be possible to get there by walking + public transport from Southampton. Ideally somewhere scenic. I'd like the New Forest, but everywhere seems to be closed. Is this doable? If not, is it doable wild-camping?

Hither and thither and yon...

I am looking for interesting or weird places to stop on a once-in-a-lifetime epic cross-country road trip. I have a month to traverse the country. I'm planning on stopping at the House on the Rock in WI, the Grand Canyon, and the Jedediah Smith Redwoods Park. Anywhere along this route that I shouldn't miss, either for food or attractions? I am looking particularly for things I would never see or eat if I were not on a road trip, or wonderful places to camp. The route is inside... [more inside]

Long Gone Alpine Campground Orchard Park NY

In the 1980s there was a campground in Orchard Park, NY (a suburb of Buffalo) on Ellicott Road. It closed sometime around 1989. It was called Alpine. I can't find a single mention of it on the internet and would love to know more about the place. It was right here. The camping is long gone, but the quarry is still there and some of the buildings are still standing. I only have fuzzy memories of going there as a kid and I'm trying to learn more about it.
