My choices for cameras have been limited by my requirement that it has to have a flexible display, such as the
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50, or the newly released
Canon 60D. But maybe I'm thinking the wrong way... Is there a way to plug a portable video screen into my camera, and achieve the same viewing flexibility?

Yes, it's true, there are still Luddites out here using 35mm film. The local concern which still develops films charges a queen's ransom to do so. Can anyone recommend a mail-in film developing lab which does good quality work, is reliable and is at least somewhat reasonable as far as price? (Costco in this area has stopped taking film...sigh).
(can't think of any snowflakes to add).

I read some time ago about new point and shoot cameras that are great for taking pictures at night. I believe they didn't have the same mirror system that typical cameras have, thereby making non-flash pictures turn out clearer. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I'm hoping to find a great camera to take out at night to take pictures without annoying people with a flash.

Just a quick dumb question I can't find answered anywhere else: I have a videocamera with 37.5mm lens threads. A filter I want to buy online has 37mm threads (and that spec seem more common in general). There's a 37.5mm-to-37mm stepdown ring available elsewhere, but it costs twice as much as the filter. Is that 0.5mm really enough to need the stepping ring?

To my amazement I just received notice of an Intention To Prosecute by my local UK police authority. What's surprising isn't the speeding ticket but the fact that it is dated and timed to a morning when my car was peacefully sitting on the driveway outside my bedroom window, listening to my snoring.

I'm thinking about building a home made camera trap, to photograph the wildlife around my house.
I've got a couple old cameras lying around, the newest being a Canon Powershot, and rather than spend a huge amount of money for a prebuilt camera trap, I'd like to convert one of these.
Does anyone have any information on doing this? Am I better off just buying something pre-made, or can I construct something myself?
