I need software/service/help for recovering files from my camera's corrupted memory card. 300 photos from my trip to Spain. Poof.
I'm using a Mac, the camera's a Panasonic FZ7, and I do not have ready access to a Windows or Linux machine. Disk Warrior appears to be of no avail (Not using a separate card reader, just the camera's USB connection). Anything I can try from the command line or anything like that?

DV / Final Cut Pro question: We just upgraded cameras to a Panasonic DVX100B, largely for the ability to shoot in 24P. However, imported footage still appears interlaced in FCP, and it's unclear to me what our new configuration should be. How will we need to change our workflow in order to edit in 24P? (More specific inside.)
On an unrelated note, we just imported a tape which appears to be corrupted. Can it be salvaged? (More details inside.) [more inside]

I'm attempting to take video off of my Canon SD200 digital camera (note: not camcorder) and put it onto my Mac PowerBook G4 so I can edit it in iMovie, but I can't figure out how to do it. If this were a PC, I'd have no issue, but my PC is nearly 7 years old, and probably can't handle video, let alone video editing. Do I need a program? Do I need to get my mac to register that the camera is connected? Help?

I've been drooling over the Leica Digilux 2 but it seems to be very expensive for what you get. I'm particularly keen though, on the manual shutter speed selector knob and the focusing ring... are there any other digital cameras (SLR or compact) out there that I could use in a similar way (the set the speed, set the focus then turn it on then take the shot kind of way).

How do I take sunrise/sunset photos with a DSLR without blinding myself? I've heard that looking through a camera at the sun is bad for your eyes since it's magnifying the light. So how do I safely take pictures of a sunrise or sunset with a DSLR? Is it really that dangerous to look through the lens? Am I damaging my eye by doing so?

If a digital camera says it can handle USB 2.0, does that mean it won't work in a USB 1.0 port? I'm in the market for a digital camera, and have been looking at the Canon PowerShot series, namely the A620, SD450, and SD600. All of these have USB 2.0 listed as the interface. However, my 800mhz G4 Powerbook has USB 1.0. Does this mean those cameras won't play nice with my laptop?

I just bought a new DSLR camera (Nikon D50). I love it. But the bag I bought for it has the camera going in vertically, lens-first, which means all the weight of the camera is pushing on the lens. Is that bad for the lens?

My camera's video recording option is limited to 30 seconds which I think was done to prevent people from using it as a video camera and therefore drive sales for other products.
I think that sucks. I should be able to record to my heart's content
Does anyone savvy know of any way to hack the software/firmware to remove the 30 second limit?

My dog ate my brand new digital camera. It's a Panasonic Lumix FX-9, and is pretty much a goner. The LCD is cracked and since the camera is a ultra-compact, it has no analog viewfinder to fall back on. The lens housing is also a little bent up and doesn't seem to extend all the way.
