I want to have a very lightweight camera that has no wires, but sends a video feed to an android device. I want to mount it on a telescoping pole for close-up inspection of stained glass windows. I do restoration and repair of stained glass for my living. So it would be great to be able to use a camera on a pole to do assessments onsite without ladders or scaffolding.

I'm looking for a tough video + camera that is mp4 native. I have a Canon IS1200, a good point and shoot. It outputs in .avi, a high volume format that takes quite awhile to download via USB. I need something more robust for my purposes.

For motion itself, will a new canon point and shoot (digic5) have the same movement quality as the 5d mark 3 (their nice digic 5 slr)? I understand that the lens quality will differ (chromatic aberration, etc), but what about seeing how the video handles movement, skew, and motion?

I need a DSLR camera that takes high quality pictures and video for $800 or less. I'll be using it for interviewing, artsy pictures, party pictures, "stand RIGHT THERE and smile, dammit!" pictures, short films, and everything else an amateur might get up to with a shiny new camera.

Recommend me a video camera to use capturing sports action. I'm looking for a USB camera for use outside that can send live capture to a Win7 machine. It should have a wide auto-focus, software to instantly review the feed. I've reviewed previous Mefi posts, and can't decide whether a web cam, stand-alone Hd camcorder, or something like a Flip or helmet cam would be suitable. Right now the Contour or GoPro are considerations, but I'm unsure of the software side. Price is not really important, but I dont' want to spend $500.

Back again. In a previous question I asked about Sony 8mm videotapes in the Philadelphia area. Sadly the price for converting Sony HG120 tape, Sony 8mm MP120 tapes and Sony Video8 MP60 tapes is too expensive for the 3 or 4 tapes I have. I'd rather not pay $150 when the tapes might be mostly blank, have crap on them, or otherwise not be worth spending $120 on. Any ideas? Should I try to buy a cheap camera for these? Anybody want to lend their for a few hours?

Does anyone know of or recommend a good flash-memory hi-def camcorder that has AV input? (ie it can also record regular/analogue video from another source, like a VCR does, though obviously it won't be in HD).
Something like the Aiptek A-HD+ meets the flash/HD/AV-in criteria, but I'm hoping to find something with better optics/zoom/stabilization.

I've inherited a
Canon Optura 100 1.3 Megapixel video camera. There's a tiny video of my dad on there that I want to put on YouTube for relatives. I haven't owned a video camera before and really want to learn how to use this, also for other things... but the manual is huge! I've tried sifting through it, but I have a Mac and I see nothing about Mac compatibility anywhere and I don't see any cables that look familiar. I know it *should* be easy... hellppp!
