Looking for a GSM alarm system for my house. I don't live in the States, so the answer should ideally be non-US specific. I was wondering about the Panasonic BL-C131A, but that needs presumably a decent amount of light and a working internet connection to alert me of break-ins. And without push email, fifteen minutes could pass before I get the alert. It's not really ideal, I don't think... [more inside]

What is a good successor to the Panasonic Lumix FX07 digital camera? I have seen some accolades for the Lumix FX07 but it doesn't seem to be a current model any longer. I'm looking for a camera that will fit easily in my pocket, and I like that the FX07 has image stabilization and wide-angle shooting.

When I take photos with my Panasonic DMC-FZ7, the date shows correctly on the LCD screen, but when the image file is moved to my computer (which also shows the correct time) it's off by five hours. [more inside] [more inside]

DV / Final Cut Pro question: We just upgraded cameras to a Panasonic DVX100B, largely for the ability to shoot in 24P. However, imported footage still appears interlaced in FCP, and it's unclear to me what our new configuration should be. How will we need to change our workflow in order to edit in 24P? My 5 year old jvc dvm90 minidv/still camera just gave up. It's my only digital still camera, so I want to get another, but don't have much money now. I was always disappointed by the low light filming any way. So, do I get an equivalent for ~$300 or go for a used "prosumer" like the canon xi, Panasonic 953, etc. for about$450 to $500 if possible(craigslist, ebay)? [more inside]
