I'm looking for a camera (or video camera w/ still-shot capability) that can do a NIFTY thing my Pencam can do, but with better image quality: I can set up my Pencam in a remote location connected to my PC via a cable, for example focused on some birds at a birdfeeder outside the window, and I can preview on my PC monitor what the Pencam sees & then take a pic with a mouseclick when the timing is right. Any chance?

Sony NEX VG10 camcorder. Mac Mini, 2010 version, iMovie 09. Previously, video would import effortlessly (also into my own copy of iMovie 11) but now the device doesn't show up at all when we click the magic iMovie import button.
Any clues about changes, bugs, or configuration issues that may be causing it to not appear?
(The camera *does* show up as a USB disk, but I don't want to much with the massive files it generates directly - it tells me that the USB interface and cable are okay, though).

We want to record students giving presentations and give them a copy of the video afterwards for later review. The camera would be fixed in some way to the room (either to the ceiling or one of the walls) and connected to a computer where the recording would be done. What kind of camera would work? Can this be done on the cheap (as in not in the thousands of dollars)? If not, what alternatives exist?

I would like to route standard def DVD playback straight into iMovie on the cheap. I have a FireWire 2007 MacBook. Thinking about an obsolete, second-hand DV camera (and connecting DVD player to it), but don't know what models to look for. I'm also open to suggestions for software or other hardware. Please help me work out what I really need.

I have a camcorder and Adobe Premiere. I'm working on this video project where I want to replace the movement of mouths and change up the dialogue from old movies. Something akin to
these etrade commercials (except, of course, not as technically tight). How can I most ably accomplish this?

Does anyone know of or recommend a good flash-memory hi-def camcorder that has AV input? (ie it can also record regular/analogue video from another source, like a VCR does, though obviously it won't be in HD).
Something like the Aiptek A-HD+ meets the flash/HD/AV-in criteria, but I'm hoping to find something with better optics/zoom/stabilization.

I have a Sony DCR-DVD92 video camcorder that records video on DVD-Rs. I have finalized the disc on the camera and I'm trying to capture the video onto my PC for storage/editing, but the camera doesn't seem to connect to my PC, and my PC DVD player doesn't seem to recognize the mini DVD-Rs that the camera uses.
Any suggestions?
