The woman who re-discovered MDMA

Alexander "Sasha" Shulgin is primarily credited with the popularization of MDMA, also known as Ecstacy. But he was actually introduced to it by a woman named Merrie Kleinman, who was reportedly a graduate student in the medicinal chemistry group Shulgin advised at San Francisco State University. Whatever happened to Merrie (Meredith?) Kleinman? The Interwebs have little information about her.

Seeking recomendation for immigration attorney in Los Angeles for Italian citizenship by descent case

Please recommend an attorney -- preferably one in the Los Angeles area -- for an unusual Italian citizenship by descent case. Looking for one with knowledge of complicated 20th Century treaties regarding the former Ottoman Empire, modern Turkey, Italy, and Greece, and experience dealing with a lack of some typical primary citizenship evidence. First they take away my tuna fish...

California legal/medical/ethical question: In advance of my going to the hospital to give birth within the next few weeks, I decided to download and fill out California's standard Advance Health Care Directive form, i.e. a living will (and to have my husband fill his out too, as long as we were at it). However, Google informs me via multiple sources that this form, even if signed and notarized, is "not valid if pregnant". WTF? [more inside]
