Terminated from a job in California, applying for unemployment.
And I am an officer at a shambling, revenue-free California S-Corp. I have never taken a salary or distributions from it. The company has no employees or contractors.
Do I still list the S-Corp on the unemployment application for Q. 33 Unemployment History?

I am in California and the startup I founded is bust. I want to know how to make the best case for my eligibility for unemployment benefits. Complicating factor: I took no salary from my startup, only stock. My last regular job prior to this startup fiasco was in Fall 2007.

The paychecks from my employer are bouncing. I live hand to mouth. Does that qualify me for unemployment in California? If I walk away from the company, does that mean I have quit and I am ineligible? Or am I laid off and eligible for benefits? The CA website is next to useless, and the phone number is consistently "busy" with a pre-recorded message stating that due to the volume of claims and calls, we need to try and call back later. What would you do?
