Which websites use a "buy a day in our calendar to advertise" model? I can think of Unicorn Booty and I Wear Your Shirt, and I vageuly remember one from a few years ago but can't recall now.

What's the right software to maintain and display a calendar of relatively infrequent future events, as well as blog-like news postings? I maintain a website for specialists in my field of mathematics, and one section consists of announcements for upcoming and recent conferences. Another is for news announcements: a basic blog-style list of entries. Both are currently run by our 7-year-old Movable Type installation, in combination with a good bit of chewing gum and baling twine. I'd like to redesign the whole schmear, including the back end. Is wordpress (plus more gum and twine) the right solution? Is there some other system that makes more sense? [more inside]

I need an on-line calendar to keep my large theatrical cast (10 principals, 30 orchestra, up to 15 tech-designers-directors) up to date on rehearsal/production. Okay freestanding, although we do have a website (website is currently not interactive and has no "members" section). Any suggestions? [more inside]

As a follow-up to this question, I'm looking for an online application that will let me set up a calendar and will email me daily reminders of the day's events. I need to do this online, because I move around a lot and am constantly using different PCs (so an Outlook/Eudora/Etc. solution won't work). I would like to be able to get a reminder the night before and one the morning-of. Google suggests there are several such services. Are there any really good ones? Bonus: Has anyone invented one that will phone you or leave your a text message?
