Help a non-coffee drinker buy a coffee maker?

Start them young

My nearly 10 year old son is very interested in how coffee is made - he compares the difference between our presso and the french press; he loves watching the whole espresso machine at the coffee shop thing. He is also a kid that likes to 'go out for coffee' with me, but with a chocolate drink for him. How early can a kid safely start drinking coffee? [more inside]

Tastless, cheap liquid caffeine

For some time now, I've been getting my AM caffeine through these fancy "sparkling energy water" drinks I get at the health food store. They are totally unsweetened carbonated water with caffeine. These drinks are expensive, and earlier tonight my husband and I had a come to jesus talk about our out of control grocery budget. My daily sparkling energy water can has got to go. [more inside]

Will drinking my coffee very quickly reduce its desired effects?

I like my coffee hot, so I tend to drink it quickly - especially professionally-made stuff which tends to be not as hot as the coffee I drink at home. But is it important to drink it slowly to increase its effectiveness as a stimulant? [more inside]

This doesn't happen all the time but rather during certain periods. It often happens after spending prolong periods at home without much social interaction, things going on in my life, or connection to the outside world, so that leads me to believe it's psychological. [more inside]

Caffeine withdrawal: Personal stories?

Two days ago, I decided to cut down on my caffeine intake drastically. I now feel super duper out of it and fatigued, plus I have headaches (I never get headaches!). I would like to hear personal anecdotes from others regarding their experiences with caffeine withdrawal, so I know for sure that what I am feeling is not just in my head. [more inside]

I've gotten along ok without caffeine. Would I get along better with it?

Do you think moderate daily caffeine consumption is, on the whole, a good thing? I certainly feel some positive effects on my productivity when I accidentally drink some caffeinated tea or whatnot, but I'd like to hear from people who drink tea/coffee every day. Are you glad you do? Do you wish you didn't have to, or do you think it gives you a boost you couldn't have otherwise, even with plenty of sleep? Does it have other health benefits? In short, would you recommend caffeine?

Why am I suddenly more sensitive to caffeine?

I have noticed over the last week that my sensitivity to caffeine seems to have dramatically increased. Normally, drinking coffee would have no major effects except making me slightly more awake / alert you would expect. But over the last fortnight, it seems that even drinking even a single cup of coffee has become quite unpleasant. 45 minutes later i will feel dramatically over-energised and find concentration difficult and drinking a cup of coffee after dinner at 7.30 will leave me unable to get to sleep until 1:30 or 2am. Is this a health issue? Is it likely that my body will adapt back over time (I do like the taste of coffee and would like to keep drinking it if possible) or should I switch to decaf coffee or a lower caffeinated drink like tea? How to reduce cardio effects of caffeine?

Is there a way to help reduce my heart rate after it gets all ramped up from drinking caffeine? Lately I've noticed that whenever I drink even a small cup of black tea my heart starts to beat rapidly a few hours later and I feel a lot of pressure in my chest, like my heart is trying to beat faster but there's a rubber band around it. The sensation is similar to panic or running, but I don't feel panicky in my head. Aside from obviously avoiding caffeine, will doing something like drinking tons of water help calm me down faster than just waiting it out?
