Two days ago, I decided to cut down on my caffeine intake drastically. I now feel super duper out of it and fatigued, plus I have headaches (I never get headaches!).
I would like to hear personal anecdotes from others regarding their experiences with caffeine withdrawal, so I know for sure that what I am feeling is not just in my head.

Do you think moderate daily caffeine consumption is, on the whole, a good thing? I certainly feel some positive effects on my productivity when I accidentally drink some caffeinated tea or whatnot, but I'd like to hear from people who drink tea/coffee every day. Are you glad you do? Do you wish you didn't have to, or do you think it gives you a boost you couldn't have otherwise, even with plenty of sleep? Does it have other health benefits? In short, would you recommend caffeine?

Help me understand the role caffeine might play in moderate to severe anxiety, intrusive thoughts (that I'm in danger) and occasional panic attacks. I'm perplexed by elimination of what I consider to be relatively low caffeine intake. Interested in others' experiences.

I have noticed over the last week that my sensitivity to caffeine seems to have dramatically increased. Normally, drinking coffee would have no major effects except making me slightly more awake / alert you would expect. But over the last fortnight, it seems that even drinking even a single cup of coffee has become quite unpleasant. 45 minutes later i will feel dramatically over-energised and find concentration difficult and drinking a cup of coffee after dinner at 7.30 will leave me unable to get to sleep until 1:30 or 2am. Is this a health issue? Is it likely that my body will adapt back over time (I do like the taste of coffee and would like to keep drinking it if possible) or should I switch to decaf coffee or a lower caffeinated drink like tea?

Is there a way to help reduce my heart rate after it gets all ramped up from drinking caffeine? Lately I've noticed that whenever I drink even a small cup of black tea my heart starts to beat rapidly a few hours later and I feel a lot of pressure in my chest, like my heart is trying to beat faster but there's a rubber band around it. The sensation is similar to panic or running, but I don't feel panicky in my head. Aside from obviously avoiding caffeine, will doing something like drinking tons of water help calm me down faster than just waiting it out?

Caffeine helps me to be optimistic, positive, and productive at work. Unfortunately, it's also fantastically addictive, and disrupts basically every important bodily process that I have. Should I talk to a psychiatrist about trying some kind of prescription stimulant?
