I have been diagnosed with the dreaded pre-eclamsia. Good news is that we are 40 weeks! Bad news- my cervix didn't get the memo. I am being induced on Monday. Given my 'unfavorable' cervix, should I ask for a c-section or go ahead with the induction. We had originally planned a natural water birth at a birthing center, but all of that is out the window now. I just want the least stressful situation for the baby (and me).

I gave birth via emergency c-section over the weekend. The baby and I are both fine, but I wouldn't be querying the hivemind if I didn't have a too-long and too-detailed question about what happened.

I'm expecting my second child at the end of June and need to decide whether to try for a VBAC or schedule a C-section. I hear a lot of anecdotes about why one is better than the other, but would really love some hard data to help me weigh the pros and cons.

After ~37wks of baking, our Little Spark is soon to emerge. Sonogram last week shows breech, size estimates via same sonogram say ~8# so far. Doc is now advising/arranging scheduled C-section. I'm not sure it's the right thing. Can you help me determine if I should push back & how hard?

Back trouble and pregnancy: Which is worse for a person with a herniated disc, a C-section (which I imagine will compromise the all-important core muscles) or vaginal delivery (which might cause the disk to rupture)? Also, I am prone to sciatica and assume that pregnancy will involve a lot of sciatic nerve pain--can this lead to a permanent worsening of my condition or would it be relieved once I gave birth?
