This is a slightly strange one, so bear with me if you will!
I have been building a rubber-band ball ever since I read the Warren Buffett biography "Snowball". I wanted something in my office that symbolized the snowball idea -- little achievements that gradually grow into something big -- and that I had made myself. It is growing pretty big right now.
It occurred to me the other day that a successful strategy requires a dual approach. So now I am thinking that slow and steady is only half the picture. The other half is impulse, intuition, go-with-your-gut and, as my handle indicates, seat-of-my-pants!
My question: What can I put in my office that symbolizes this spontaneous trait. The ying to the yang of snowball. The quantum-leap approach, if you will!
I want to have something that is either interactive or made by myself so that it is not just an inanimate glump sitting on a shelf.
Thank you for indulging me and I look forward to your insights.

What benefit does a Negative Operating Cycle get you? Other than just cash on hand. Amazon has a lot of cash because they practice Just In Time inventory management & sell out of their products before the bill for that product comes due. Other companies pay the bill first & then wait for the stock to sell out to recoup their money. Aside from the benefit of having cash on hand, what benefit do you get from this?

I'm looking for a company that will take a plain photo of my dog, and create a painting from it, but add a little flare. I'd like my dog to be in a suit, maybe wearing glasses, in front of a book case. Here's an example:

In a Business setting, how do you measure intangibles such as fostering communication with junior members of the organization? For example VP holding open door meetings every month? In the end I need a metric (A number)? The problem here is that its very hard to articulate value of such things in a metrics crazy world/companies? And I need a metric!

Recently I
learned that
The Sims creator Will Wright stamps his name on worthless currency and uses that as his "business card". I find this very charming as he can keep his cards alongside his actual cash. I would like to do the same thing, with the cheapest currency I can find, but when I went to the currency exchange place down the road from me, the cheapest currency they had was still very expensive. Each "card" would have cost me like, 20 cents or something. Where can I buy stacks and stacks of worthless cash for rock bottom prices?

Can you recommend a online forum where management strategy can be discussed? For example if I wanted to bounce ideas around appropriate project metrics? I know there are specific PM forums but I am wondering if there is a forum where managers sort of discuss their ideas etc. Something more general than a dedicated PM forum since my questions / discussions wont just relate to project management

We’ve been asked to work on a project. I have a friend who seemed to have their heart set on this same thing. We’re the older, more established company. They’re the younger company but the project is more obviously in their area of interest. They already know they won’t be doing it, but they don’t yet know that we might. What’s the graceful way to handle this situation without incurring unnecessary resentment?
