Looking for sample business emails to improve my writing skills.
The resources I found are typically for writing to clients or customers. I am looking for sample emails that one writes mostly internally within their own company.
For example an email one would write to make a suggestion, disagree with something, ask for status, share an idea, remind someone politely, coach someone etc (Common business scenarios). Not looking for emails to win business or sell anything.
Would appreciate if you could share web links or books (preferably the ones available at amazon.com). Also, I would like examples and not a resource that just gives guidance.
Hoping you can share some ideas or things you have observed companies do to energize and excite their organizations. Please note that ideas that work for young organizations like google may not work for me since I am trying to do this in a very traditional, large and old (over 100 years in business) organization.
One idea that comes to mind is hiring relatively younger employees for senior management positions. Perhaps having more team outings might help as well.
I would welcome any suggestions.
Thanks in advance!
Can you share examples of innovation programs in companies that you are aware of? How do they measure the outcomes of such programs?
I know Google used to or still has a program where in employees work on projects of their choosing for 20% of their time.
Any thoughts around steps that can be taken to increase innovation in an IT organization would be helpful.
Can you share ways of sounding less direct and polite while contradicting / disagreeing / sharing ideas in a business context?
For example in a scenario where one wants to say : Why don't we have a website for this product a more polite way of saying the same thing could be: I am new here and was wondering if there would be any value in having a website for this product.
I would love to hear ideas around how individuals can sound polite and make their point in business setting where often times you need to make your point to senior management.
Also, Any books or websites that can help with this?
What sort of technologies can help / support the Animal Health pharmaceuticals business? I am not talking about general enterprise technologies such as ERP or SharePoint. I am looking for technologies that can specifically help the Animal health business. For example a technology platform that helps vets gain information about diseases. Any suggestions or thoughts? Any tech that can maybe assist with solving a problem currently faced by Animal Health pharmaceutical business.
Need to do a simple analysis around pay and experience fairness.
Two project managers managing exactly same kind of projects and have similar performance levels:
PM 1 -> Pay $130,000 ; Experience 15 years;
PM2-> Pay $80,000 ; Experience 3 years;
I want a mathematical way of analyzing if the person getting paid $80,000 is being under payed.
Now I know there are industry standards and charts available. I want to do something that may not be perfect but gives a sense.
How much weight should be given to experience and can this be factored in mathematically?
Please dont get hung up on accuracy. I want a logical analysis method that does not need to be entirely accurate.
Also, where can I find industry charts comparing pay and experience
I interact a lot with Indians and Indian Companies (for outsourcing).
What are some of the cultural differences between working with a US company VS an Indian Company? [more inside]
In a Business setting, how do you measure intangibles such as fostering communication with junior members of the organization? For example VP holding open door meetings every month? In the end I need a metric (A number)? The problem here is that its very hard to articulate value of such things in a metrics crazy world/companies? And I need a metric!
Can you recommend a online forum where management strategy can be discussed? For example if I wanted to bounce ideas around appropriate project metrics? I know there are specific PM forums but I am wondering if there is a forum where managers sort of discuss their ideas etc. Something more general than a dedicated PM forum since my questions / discussions wont just relate to project management
