An acquaintance (at best) posted on facebook that he is glad Jimi, Curt, Hank, etc died young because they would have at some point started being old/fat/lazy/sell out, etc (Fade Away). I want to throw out a few names of people who not only kept making good music but who had a critically better musical period later in life.

I have been using depilatory cream on my upper lip. A few weeks ago, I must have left it on too long because it left a mark, I guess it's a burn. It looks like a shadow and it's dark! It's horrible- now I have what looks like a moustache right where a moustache would be! Will this ever go away?
Is there anything I can do to make it go away? Is there anything a doctor could do? Would a chemical peel help?
If there's nothing that can be done, what's the best way to cover it? I've been using foundation, but it still shows through somehow.

I've used the Toshiba RD-XS32SU recorder for years; it's an excellent device for recording tv programs and making dvds. It has a wide variety of extremely useful editing features. Although it's no longer being made since Toshiba decided to focus on blu-ray, it's been long regarded as the premiere video recorder. Alas, my recorder is now refusing to recognize any brand of disc when I try to load. The only way it will accept a disc is after it's been unplugged for several hours. Then it will load one disc, but after that, no more.
Since college football season is here and I record many games and burn them to dvds, I'm in the market for a reliable recorder.
What models do you recommend, techie members of the hive mind? Are there any reasonably priced ones that include the editing features of the
Toshiba RD-XS32SU?

I've been cooking in the backcountry for years with a
pepsi-can stove (it simply provides an aerated vessel in which to ignite 75% - 99% isopropyl alcohol which you pour into it)...now recently I've noticed a distinctive, not exactly pleasant smell at the very end, when the fuel finally runs out and the flame extinguishes itself...perhaps a residual vapor is released at that point (I'm usually done cooking). SO, my question is, are dangerous gases perhaps being released? I'm wary of course of getting aluminum in my bloodstream and catching Alzheimer's, but any other dangers I should know about?

I need to make about 3-4 different jpeg slideshows that can be burned to a DVD. Nothing fancy, but it would be nice to add text to the images ( I have Photoshop, so that's not critical), and be able to control the speed (very critical) to maybe 30 seconds per slide/jpeg. Total images would be less than 50. Autoplay a plus. I am using Windows 7, and love simple to use free stuff, but would pay 50-100 if it is worth it. What am I looking for?

Since Handbrake 0.9.4 seems to have gotten rid of the .avi/Xvid option, is there anyway to rip a DVD so it will play on a divx etc enabled player? Here we go again on cross-faded CDs... Is there any software for Windows, currently available, and cheaper than, say, CD-Architect (:-), which will let me make up a playlist for a CD, and then individually adjust the amount of overlap between each pair of source tracks, and do all the mixing and cue-sheet work necessary to give me a CD with one big long track, but the proper Q subcode to make the display and individual track selection work properly?

How do I deal with a horrible sunburn? It's so bad that my shoulders have second degree burns and it hurts to move my arms. Is there a way to lessen the pain or somehow make my skin heal faster? I got the burn on Friday and have been applying aloe vera ever since.
