About a month ago, I spent the day playing games on my laptop and it got really heated. I felt it get super hot on my left thigh, more so than usual, but it was still tolerable so I left it there.
Now I have a huge spider-like red mark on my left thigh. I've had red marks before from my laptop, but none this "spider-vein like" and none that persisted this long. It also seems to fade and darken depending on my body temperature. If I take a warm shower, it will get SUPER dark and fade to its usual redness after a few hours.
It doesn't hurt. It's not irritated. It doesn't itch. It doesn't peel. It's just odd and ugly. Can I expect it to fade over time? Is it permanent? What should I do? Is there a treatment for this?
The only thing I've done is alter how I sit with my laptop. (no more lap)

Damn you facebook. An acquaintance (at best) posted on facebook that he is glad Jimi, Curt, Hank, etc died young because they would have at some point started being old/fat/lazy/sell out, etc (Fade Away). I want to throw out a few names of people who not only kept making good music but who had a critically better musical period later in life.

I have been using depilatory cream on my upper lip. A few weeks ago, I must have left it on too long because it left a mark, I guess it's a burn. It looks like a shadow and it's dark! It's horrible- now I have what looks like a moustache right where a moustache would be! Will this ever go away?
Is there anything I can do to make it go away? Is there anything a doctor could do? Would a chemical peel help?
If there's nothing that can be done, what's the best way to cover it? I've been using foundation, but it still shows through somehow.

Because of a practical joke gone wrong (don't ask) I have wound up with second degree burns on my ass, including between the cheeks. I have dressed it with Neosporin and am changing the gauze regularly, but what do I do to minimize discomfort and promote healing as well as to avoid any localized infection in this notoriously unclean region? I've used the Toshiba RD-XS32SU recorder for years; it's an excellent device for recording tv programs and making dvds. It has a wide variety of extremely useful editing features. Although it's no longer being made since Toshiba decided to focus on blu-ray, it's been long regarded as the premiere video recorder. Alas, my recorder is now refusing to recognize any brand of disc when I try to load. The only way it will accept a disc is after it's been unplugged for several hours. Then it will load one disc, but after that, no more.
Since college football season is here and I record many games and burn them to dvds, I'm in the market for a reliable recorder.
What models do you recommend, techie members of the hive mind? Are there any reasonably priced ones that include the editing features of the Toshiba RD-XS32SU?
Thanks in advance!

I've been cooking in the backcountry for years with a pepsi-can stove
(it simply provides an aerated vessel in which to ignite 75% - 99% isopropyl alcohol which you pour into it)...now recently I've noticed a distinctive, not exactly pleasant smell at the very end, when the fuel finally runs out and the flame extinguishes itself...perhaps a residual vapor is released at that point (I'm usually done cooking). SO, my question is, are dangerous gases perhaps being released? I'm wary of course of getting aluminum in my bloodstream and catching Alzheimer's, but any other dangers I should know about?

I need to make about 3-4 different jpeg slideshows that can be burned to a DVD. Nothing fancy, but it would be nice to add text to the images ( I have Photoshop, so that's not critical), and be able to control the speed (very critical) to maybe 30 seconds per slide/jpeg. Total images would be less than 50. Autoplay a plus. I am using Windows 7, and love simple to use free stuff, but would pay 50-100 if it is worth it. What am I looking for?

When a candle is burnt indoors, what happens to the wax? An amount of smoke equivalent to the mass of the candle is released as it's burnt (?)--does this manage to escape the house, or does most of it stay in the room and coat the walls, floors, ceiling, etc.?
