Is drinking Red Bull before a cardio workout a dumb idea? For the last year, I've been doing a pretty strenuous weightlifting regimen on my upper body mondays, wednesdays and saturdays. I would like to start doing cardio/ab work on the remaining days. Mainly I want to add cardio in as a means to get my own natural energy/stamina levels up so that I wont have to rely as much of caffeine or energy drinks throughout my day or (more importantly) when I go dancing on the weekends.

I am 34, naturally pretty energetic anyway and have very little body fat. What my hope is it that cardio will give me a marked increase in energy.

Now, here's the conundrum: when I do my lifting regimen, I usually have a sugar-free Red Bull beforehand just to get my wherewithal up. If I do this for cardio (say the running incline machine) will this be like "cheating", and will it lessen my gains? Is it a bad idea to mix Red Bull and cardio anyway?

Note: this may be a really dumb question, but humor me.

I'll gladly pay you Monday for a gigantic profit on Friday.

Why do the lenders give short sellers the stock? So there has been much talk over the past week or two about short selling. As I understand it, two parties are involved, provided we are talking about regular short selling and not naked short selling. Person A (Andy), calls up Person B (Bill) and asks to borrow some stock for the week. No problem says Bill, just pay me $5 and have the stock back on my desk by Friday. Andy goes out and sells the stock right away, getting $100. Friday rolls around and sure enough, partly due to Andy selling his share(s) and driving down confidence in others, the stock is only worth $20. Andy buys back the stock and delivers it back to Bill's desk, along with the $5 he agreed to pay for borrowing it. He sold it for $100 and bought it back for $20 so he makes $80 - $5 in commission for a total of $75 profit.

My question then is, why on earth would Bill lend out this stock in the first place. After all, he ends up holding a stock on Friday worth much less than it was worth on Monday. When he saw the price dropping on Wednesday, he couldn't do anything about it because he didn't even have the stock to sell if he wanted to. In particular, I have heard that many of the people lending out stocks are mutual fund managers who have large portfolios of many stocks. It seems like there is a huge conflict of interest here because the manager should want to see his fund go up and by lending out his stock to shorters he is driving down the price of the very stocks he is supposed to be managing when some hedge fund borrows thousands of his shares, screams "Sell, sell, sell" on the open market and the shares tank.

What's the best place to view the Red Bull Air Race in London? Buying tickets to the London Red Bull Air Race is apparently daft, since it gets totally crowded and the view isn't great. I'd like to see it clearly, from an uncrowded spot. It can be from a distance, as long as I can see most of the course.

One possibility I'm considering is renting a hotel room for one of the days. It would need a good view of the river. If anyone knows of such a hotel, that would be great.

Can you identify these scenes? LA's highway Stack, a bull in an arena, a 60's Alfa Romeo radio, a wall clock, and an explosion. I'm trying to find the origin of a couple of scenes, all of them from movies produced or distributed by Warner. All of those are definitely pre-1993, and most probably pre-1985. The shots were taken from La Classe Américaine, a French parody movie from 1993 that used sequences from other movies and re-dubbed them to create a whole new story, which a friend is restoring.

The first scene (first shot and second shot, ignore the text) shows the first four-level interchange in Los Angeles, aka The Stack, built in 1953. We have already found similar scenes in Hollywood Boulevard (1976), Helter Skelter (1976), and Death Wish II (1982).

The second scene (first shot, second shot, and third shot, but ignore the western scene at the beginning) shows a bull, probably in a corrida arena. Similar scenes exist in The Valley of Gwangi, Around the World in 80 Days, The Miracle, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and Quo Vadis.

The third scene is a wall clock.

The fourth scene is a late 60's a US-model Blaupunkt Frankfurt or Blaupunkt Essen, most probably in an Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider. We've found similar scenes in The Omega Man (1971), Rebel Without a Cause (1955), Every Which Way but Loose (1978), Rock and Roll High School (1979), 10 (1979), and Any Which Way You Can (1980). We've watched all the movies marked as featuring a Spider on IMCDb, with no success.

Number five is an explosion that goes up in a mushroom cloud. It isn't from Mad Max, When Time Ran Out…, Bullitt, Hooper, Beyond the Poseidon Adventure or City Beneath the Sea.

I'd be really impressed if you could identify even one of those!

Work-mandatory dinner, is it overtime or Free Time?

SlaveryFilter: My girlfriend is attending "mandatory" dinners with co-workers every week, which eats up her entire evening! She isn't being paid for her time, how is this legal? Shouldn't it be considered overtime or something? If you HAVE to go to something for WORK, shouldn't they PAY you?
For all the bull she gets about life-work balance, they sure tip the scales in favor of the latter.

Where can I buy bullhorns? Shorty story shorter. My bullhorns are broken. I need to replace them with new ones.
Where can I get a new set of small bullhorns? In Seattle would be optimal.

The set I had were about 3 feet wide, tip to tip, hollow, and nailed into a block of wood between them, which was wrapped with fur. The horns themselves were hollow. They were picked up in Tijuana several years ago for only a few dollars.

I'm trying to find the name of a Mexican male "performance" enchancer that I once saw at a Walgreens in Berkeley. It comes in a yellow box and has a picture of a bull's head on it and is apparently made from bull's testicles. The design is fantastic, and I'm having no luck google-fuing up a name.
