Suddenly today, I can't stay logged into anything - Google, Facebook, Metafilter, Twitter, Flickr, etc. I've run through a bunch of possibilities, but could the power cutting out last night have done something? [more inside]

Re-installed Windows XP on my old laptop (Sony PCG-SRX87). Let it run through all the updates. Now neither IE nor Firefox will show CSS background images. [more inside]

Where can I find stats for general web usage? Mostly we're interested in knowing the approximate percentages of the nation's/world's web browsing environment. We track it for our own site, but I'd like to know how we compare to the web as a whole.

Why does Firefox insist on loading pages with Unicode character coding, when I prefer Western character coding? The former turns high-ASCII characters like ยง into question marks; the latter displays these normally. Does this happen to anyone else, and can I fix it?

re: popups/popunders ... those wiley webmasters have apparently come up with a new version of code that thwarts my popup filters. Anyone know of a more recent popup filter that works on this new form?

I want to investigate free web browsers other than Safari for OSX (10.2.8). The most obvious alternative seems to be Firebird, but it doesn't seem to recognise my third mouse-button for tabbed browsing. Does anyone know how to fix this (I'm prepared to look silly), or can anyone suggest an alternative? What shape is Camino in these days?

I've been having a weird problem with my website: eoe.is. It seems that when some users enter my website, some of the images don't appear, and when they click on a link on my site, the images on the linked site don't show either. People have to turn off their browser to make images appear again. I've only heard of cases with IE, WinXP. Any suggestions?
